Filzsteinalm — Restaurant in Krimml

We arrived at the ski resort late (due to bad weather), we checked into our accommodation, but we had absolutely no food or water and a hungry/thirsty family. This restaurant stated that they closed at 9pm, we arrived there just before 8pm to find them closing. With nothing else around and bad weather to drive, we were stuck.

The first employee we spoke to at the restaurant had no solutions for us and tried to turn us away, his manager decided to try and help us, but with a frown on his face.

We ended up getting 4 dry bread rolls, 4 small packets of crisps and 4 x 500ml bottled waters - Our total cost being 37 Euros - Exorbitant prices and extortion to desperate customers to say the least.

Restaurants get away with stuff like this, being the only restaurant in the area.

On filzstein your hikes start or your skiing classes. The small pond is cold but excellent refreshing in summer. In winter the cross country skiing tracks start just behind it. Walking tours around are great, but you need to get a bit out from the busier parts. Unfortunately the place gets busier and fuller with holiday house every year. They ought to protect the high moors far better. And they should never have built the ugly three or even four storey youth hostel. Five hundred pupils at a time. Freaking...

Da ich kein regelmäßiger Skifahrer bin und es heuer nach Ü30 Jahren mal wieder ausprobiert habe (zuletzt Skifreizeit in Klasse 10 😜), kann ich leider keine Vergleiche ziehen... Die Filzsteinalm bietet nach meiner Einschätzung sehr gute Bedingungen für Anfängerinnen und Ungeübte, für Familien mit Kindern, es hat aber auch ein paar rote Pisten (v.a. auf fußläufig gut erreichbarer Duxeralm) und eine schwarze Piste, so dass aus meiner Sicht vor allem "blau und rote Fahrerinnen" auf ihre Kosten kommen dürften. Skischule und Skiverleiher sind sehr nett, preislich entgegenkommend, versuchen nicht "jeden Euro zu machen" (und das, wo man coronabedingt sicher froh um jeden wäre). Tellerlift und Rodelbahn und Sessellift (Duxeralm), alles prima. Restaurant bietet die almüblichen Speisen und Getränke zu (vermutlich) üblichen Preisen (Skiwasser, Cola, Almdudler 0,5l: 3,80, Radler 0,5: 4,90, Backerbsensuppe 7,70). Nicht geschmeckt hat uns die Currywurst, die mit den gut schmeckenden Pommes 10,50 kostete. Ein wenig almübliche unaufdringliche Stimmungsmusik, Sitzplätze drinnen wie draußen (dort teils überdacht), ein paar Liegestühle für die sonnigen Tage, alles in allem ein Ort, den ich wieder...
