Landgasthof Neuwirt — Restaurant in Lofer

The hotel was for 2 nights the start-off point for a hiking trip in the Saalachtal. We would much rather have preferred another place. We were not welcomed as we would expect (we were half an hour later for dinner than preferred by the management), directly told to move the car 'around the corner' (without specifying how/where), the food was cooked dead, the overall expressions of the management (family) was as if they would have wanted to stop working for the last 10 years. the room was large enough, but curtains require eyeshades for the morning (unless you want to wake up at the crack of dawn). Breakfast was unattractive, especially if you arrive later than the other guests. The fruit was literally full of little flies (no covers to avoid that), out of bread rolls, cheese, yoghurt finished. The message was: if you need something, let me know. That is turning the world upside down: not caring for your guests. As soon as we left the eating room, we heard the door being locked behind us and the patrons were not to be found anymore. No offering of the wifi password, no pro-active attitude on anything towards us. For us this was a-typical of a friendly austrian hotel. Maybe because of the position that it is located right next to the ski-lift? So patronage guaranteed in wintertime? The overall atmosphere was of disinterest of the guest, outdated outfitting of the place including the sanitary amenities in the bathroom. Food was totally uninteresting. Sorry I cannot be...

Wir waren mit 2 Erwachsenen und 2 Kindern (2+5) für 1 Woche dort. Einige Zimmer wurden im letzten Jahr renoviert. Unseres war leider noch in alter Ausstattung, dennoch war alles vorhanden und funktionierte einwandfrei. Leider wird am Ruhetag des Restaurants auch das Zimmer nicht gereinigt. Frühstück gibt es aber an diesem Tag.

Es gibt einen neuen Skikeller mit beheizten, abschließbaren Spinden. Auch der Kinderwagen fand im Keller einen trockenen Platz.

Das Frühstück war klein aber ausreichend. Wir sind alle satt geworden. Diverse Brot und Brötchensorten. Toaster. Rührei, Speck, gekochte Eier. Croissants. Marmelade und Nutella, Margarine und Butter. Kleine Käse- und Wurstauswahl. Joghurt, Obstsalat und Müsli. Fruchtsäfte. Filterkaffee am Tisch. Kaffeespezialitäten und Tee auf Bestellung.

Wir waren von 7 Nächten 5 mal im Restaurant essen. Trotz 11 Personen plus Hund haben wir immer einen Platz bekommen auch wenn ziemlich ausgebucht war. Das Essen ist ein Traum. Die Burger sind mit Abstand die Besten, die ich jemals gegessen habe. Es wurde immer drauf geachtet, dass die Kinder ihr Essen mit unseren Vorspeisen bekamen. Es gab immer etwas zum Malen und niemand beschwert sich, wenn den Kindern das Sitzenbleiben schwer fällt. Alle waren sehr freundlich und bemüht. Man hatte jederzeit das Gefühl, willkommen zu sein. Auch für ein kurzes, persönliches Gespräch mit der Wirtsfamilie war immer Zeit.

Die Lage ist für Skifahrer top. Vom Skikeller bis zur Talstation Almenwelt Lofer sind es keine 200 Meter.

This is such a lovely restaurant and hotel. It’s in typical Austrian style with very friendly staff. The dishes are a mix of regular and Austrian dishes and deserts. You should reserve a seat at least a day in advance. All the dished we had for us and the children, we had a devils burger, a veggy burger, fries and spaghetti with tomato sauce.
