JILLY BEACH Wörthersee — Restaurant in Pörtschach am Wörther See

We had high hopes for our evening, especially since we reserved a table for my partner's birthday. However, things took a disappointing turn as soon as we arrived. Despite our reservation, we were initially denied a nice table that was clearly marked as "Reserved" but remained unoccupied throughout our time there. The staff seemed indifferent, even when we mentioned it was a special occasion.

To make matters worse, an older gentleman, when told it was my partner's birthday, bizarrely claimed it was his birthday too, which was clearly untrue. His dismissive and rude attitude left a bad taste in our mouths, and we were ready to leave and celebrate elsewhere.

It was only when we started to leave that he rushed to stop us and offered us the table by the lake—the one we had wanted all along. While the view was stunning and the food was nice, the whole experience was overshadowed by the earlier unpleasantness.

As we were leaving, we asked our waiter—who was kind and served us well—if it was indeed his manager's birthday. The waiter confirmed it wasn't. When my partner confronted the manager about this lie, he simply replied, "Whatever, leave."

Beautiful atmosphere, food is good, with one exception all the staff is very friendly, attentive and professional. BUT the one exception is absolutely unacceptable and can totally make you regret choosing the restaurant in the first place - the restaurant manager, a discriminating old man, was extremely rude and condescending. He was very set on sending us away although we had a reservation. He absolutely refused letting us sit upstairs with the argument they were full, although a very friendly waiter/bartender was already looking in parallel and soon came back and invited us to come up - the terrace was 80% empty, we just didn’t fit to the manager‘s perfect picture of traditional Austrian older aristocrats sitting upstairs. I am shocked to my core from the attitude and discrimination and would not come back to this place even though the rest of the service was very welcoming and friendly throughout...

We stayed a couple days at the related hotel and had the pleasure to enjoy Jilly Beach during the day as well as for two evenings. During the day you can relax at the beautiful landing stage with great refreshing drinks and hip food while enjoying the lake and the wonderful view. Couple of minor issues with the young waiters, but nothing major and also understandable because our stay was right after they were open again and they had to get used to the workflow. Dinners were amazing. Super great food with fresh and organic ingredients. Everything tasted amazing and we were super happy!
