Restaurant Gschwendtners – Herzhafte Küche — Restaurant in Pfarrwerfen

We had just checked in to our hotel after a long day of travel and were given the details of this restaurant to have dinner. Gave them a quick call and were welcomed by one of the members of staff who suggested we arrive asap. So we jumped back in the car and made our way here. SO happy we did and would go back.

The menu has many options. Definitely fewer for vegetarians but we were more than happy to choose the spinach dumplings. Always a winner in this part of Europe and these didn’t disappoint.

The staff were extremely friendly with everyone. I’m not surprised this had very good reviews and I’m thankful to our hotel (Der Burgblick) for recommending.

Absolutely rude and borderline hostile lady (at the bar) upon reception. She was basically throwing us out and dismissing us due to her “overwhelmed kitchen”. Restaurant is on the side of the road and clearly can not tend to its patrons on a sunny Monday afternoon. Everyone sitting outside looked frustrated as not one table had food on it. It’s fine if you’re busy but display an iota of respect or hospitality when you are forced to turn people away due to your own...

The food was absolutely perfect and delicious! BUT, our waitress got our order wrong twice. Each time she tried to convince us to compromise with dishes that we didn't order and made us feel bad for asking what we ordered, each time with a different excuse. She even tried to charge us on an additional side dish since she gave us the wrong one at first and didn't want to replace it. Unfortunately, the food is amazing but the bad service ruined...
