A pleasant restaurant a short distance from the Riegersburg castle, which is popular with tourists. There is a terrace with a nice view of the castle and the vineyards below, and it is very pleasant here, especially on warm days. On the other hand, it is clear that the largest clientele are tourists, and so the whole concept is set up for them to eat quickly, as the dishes came out of the kitchen very quickly. Despite this, they tasted very good, the dishes did not need to be seasoned, the fries could have been homemade and the soup did not have to be just broth with two dumplings. We arrived a little bit before sunset on a clear, crisp day in early January. We were seated on the side facing the sun with the Riegersburg castle in the foreground. Needless to say, the ambiance was spectacular, as was the food that we were served after a mere 15-20 minutes of waiting after ordering. I can only describe the food as truly regional, authentic and hearty. The portions are quite big so be cautious! I ordered a Hirsch Schnitzel and a "side" "mixed salad". I put the word "side" in quotation marks, because this salad alone would have sufficed as a main dish! All the others with whom I was dining on that evening also reported that their respective dishes were delightful!

Under a friend's recommendation, we spent a very pleasant time in this cozy old-fashioned tavern. The service was quick, professional and attentive to the customer needs. The menu is simple: typical Austrian cuisine prepared with high quality raw materials. Even the simplest dish is somehow exquisite. And the view from the rear balcony is breathtaking, certainly an experience to try and try again. The proximity to the chocolate factory is one more reason to step by this...
