The hotel is situated right on the seaside, and also right on the main road, off the local village. The main (and quite successful) business of the place is the restaurant, and it looks like running the hotel is not given a priority.||We have received a family apartment, which actually comprised 2 double rooms with a piece of corridor, separated from the rest of the floor by an improvised wooden wall with a door. A nicer, but smaller room had a balcony to the lake, and to the restaurant garden. The other, bigger one, had a small kitchenette and a window and a balcony to the main road, which had to be kept shut most of the time. ||The rooms were nicely decorated with wooden floors and walls, the bathrooms also seemed new. However, the balconies give one quite an opposite feeling - full of spider webs, with cracks in the wooden floor. We could use only the lake-side balcony, which still was nice, after the restaurant smells were fading away.||The breakfast was good - inside or outside, according to the weather.||No Internet whatsoever.||No elevator - a sad surprise when you come with 2 large suitcases.||The rooms are properly cleaned only after checkout.||The TVs seems to be connected to a local sat dish with a very narrow choice of German-speaking channels.||To conclude, it feels like the hotel is not given a sufficient attention, event the lately redecorated stuff seems to be "unfinished". It is missing a home-feeling touch typical for the Austrian countryside hotels. On the other hand, the price was in accordance with...

Read moreGamsjaga is a traditional, family-run guest-house / restaurant / inn / "pension" in a scenic location. ||||-Rooms & Service-||The service was OK. Not all staff speak English (most guests are locals), but some do. The rooms are simple but spacious. ||||-Food-||The best thing was breakfast. The buffet is very rich; better than in the executive lounge of the Vienna Hilton where we'd stayed just before we drove to Wolfgansee. Cold cuts, cheeses, creamy spreads, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, apple strudel (if you get there early) and other pastry. You can sit and enjoy the view of the lake from a large lakeside terrace, where dinner - fresh fish from the lake - is served in the evening.|| ||-Location-||The hotel is a short drive from St Gilgen where the nearest supermarket is, and where you can catch a boat to visit St Wolfgang on the other side of the lake. Salzburg is 45-90 min drive depending on the traffic.||||-Beach-||The hotel is located right on the shore but the water is pretty shallow. Also, because it's situated at the foot of a steep mountain which casts a shadow, the grassy area near the water (with a few sunbeds) is mostly in the shade after 4 - 4.30 pm (it was the beginning of August). However, this wasn't a problem. If you drive 5 mins south to the southern part of Wolfgangsee there is a free public beach (Waasbad) with a small restaurant.||||Overall, I would recommend it and would probably...
