Restaurant Zenz'n Stub'n — Restaurant in Schörfling am Attersee

I've been to zenzn as least a dozen of times, or maybe almost 2x that.

I've also visited almost all the other restaurants in the area. Zenzn is my favourite one! I usually find that the restaurants around have too high rating, like for 1whole grade and so, but zenzn completely deserves the rating.

Food is fresh, made with local ingredients literally (they have a list of every meat supplier etc). And this care for HQ and freshness you can taste in the food.

Secondly, such tiny details make them better than the restaurants around. In example, always freshly made salad with perfect dressing (which is always what disappoints me everywhere else, either they combine canned parts with fresh, or they put some American too sweet dressing that doesn't fit the food, etc). Zenzn does nothing wrong. They take fresh veggies, make it traditional, healthy and simple.

Another thing that's better, portions are well measured. Not too big, not with saturated old oil dripping from the defrozen food, not too small, so that you're only paying the view on the lake, what others do. I have a healthy, strong appetite and a sensitive stomach, and it's always perfect for me.

Ambient is very cute, unpretentious, clean, charming, with beautiful views, and it fits the unpretentious, reliable but high quality food well. Presentation f the food is also always with effort and beautiful.

I'd also like to praise the employees, that are always smiling, helpful and make the whole experience better.

Prices are a bit higher, but it's absolutely worth it. Otherwise... Just take...

Spent under 3 great days in the Wolfgangsee / Hallstat area and driving down to Vienna. Had the choice of driving to Vienna through either the attersee lake or Traunsee. Seemed like the attersee route had more lake shore roads so choose that one. After having yet another great breakfast at our Scalaria sunset wing hotel in Wolfgangsee we headed out. As people can attest either in person or vicariously, the Austrian country side is magical and is strewn with great eateries which I have been sharing. The ratings for this restaurant were great. And the view as you can see from the photos was also marvelous. And now to the food. The dumplings were outstanding- these were not the ones I am used to in the USA but sumptuous calls of flavor in a creamy sauce that just complemented the entire package. The reason this place is not getting 5 for the food is the second dish - I made the mistake of ordering a pulled pork burger which was good but nowhere near the standard of the dumplings. The non alcoholic beer wasn’t the same that I have been having throughout my trip and probably for the first time in the trip didn’t...

Um ehrlich zu sein, mir war gar nicht nach vier Sternen nach dem Besuch, nicht mal nach 3. Mit etwas Distanz muss man aber sagen dass sie eine schlechtere Bewertung als vier nicht verdient haben. Es ist okay dort, definitiv.

Die negative Kritik: Frittatensuppe: Das gehobene Preisniveau der Karte lässt auf beste Qualität hoffen. Doch schon die Suppe enttäuschte das. Stark gewässert, kaum Würze, sehr sehr weiche Frittaten, fettiger Belag am Gaumen der durch die fehlenden Fettaugen auf der Suppe aber vermuten lässt, dass es sich um ein Fertigprodukt handelt. Damit beginnt das Essen schon negativ, was sicher auch zur Bewertung und zum Gesamteindruck beigetragen hat.

Schweinsbraten mit Stöcklkraut und Semmelknödel. Das Fleisch war über jeden Zweifel erhaben. Da weis jemand wie man Schweinsbraten macht. Schöne Kruste, weiches Fleisch trotzdem mit Biss, viel Aroma. Absolut gelungen. Unverständlich, dass der Saft dann den selben Makel aufwirft wie die Suppe.

Das Stöcklkraut kannten wir nicht und waren begeistert. So sehr, dass ich es auf mein Weihnachtsmenü nahm. Aber obwohl das mein aller erster versuch war, hatte mein Kraut wesentlich mehr Kraut-Aroma. Das war uns an dem Abend aber nicht klar und so war das ein Highlight.

Das Knödel. Sorry, aber da fehlt mir dann das Verständnis. Wenn ein Betrieb mit den Preisen, der Ausstattung und der Karte, offensichtlich auch unter der Woche guter Auslastung typische Mehlknödel serviert, die vermutlich in jedem Wirtshaus mehr Semmelanteil aufweisen, dann fühle ich mich etwas geneppt.

Blunzen mit Erdäpfl und Kren Vorweg: Super das das möglich war, denn auf der Karte stand nur ein Blunzengröstl. Ich wollte sie aber knusprig gebraten in der Haut haben. Die Blunzen selbst war wie das Fleisch sensationell gut. Trotz bitte um "Wirklich cross!" kam sie aber gerade mal erhitzt. Wäre es dem Geschäftsgang geschuldet hätte man wohl eher verbrannte bekommen. Also vermute ich entweder einen Kommunikationsfehler oder aber kochtechnisches Desinteresse. zweiteres passt auch eher zu Suppe und Knödel.

Trotzdem, dass man es überhaupt machte ist lobenswert.

Kaiserschmarren mit Zwetschkenröster Stand nicht auf der Karte, wurde vom Service vorgeschlagen und hat uns glücklich gemacht. Bis die Rechnung kam. 10,90 für den Kaiserschmarren schockt einen Wiener dann doch und würde wohl nicht bestellt werden. Das wäre aber schade, denn er ist jeden Bissen wert. Wirklich gut gemacht.

In den nächsten zwei Tagen haben wir dann gesehen, dass der Preis für die Region sogar noch günstig war. Die Konkurrenz verrechnet hier gerne mal 12,90 und mehr und kommt geschmacklich an die Zenzenstube nicht heran.

Service: Tadellos. Freundlich, lustig, bemüht. Mitdenkend und schnell. Für die Speisenqualität können sie nichts, aber nach den Beschwerden hätte ich mir vielleicht doch eine kleine Reaktion gewünscht. Kam aber nicht. Auch nicht von der Chefin.

Auch lobenswert: Auf Nachfrage zum Stöckelkraut kam neben einer Erklärung ganz automatisch auch noch eine verbale Einschulung wie man...
