Gasthaus Thalmühle — Restaurant in Wildschönau

Our mixed group visited the Gasthaus Thalmühle for lunch on the 26.09.2018 and was delighted by the traditional and rustic rural ambience, the friendly and swift service, as well as the delicious and carefully arranged food. Another thing that made a very good impression on me personally was the music mix, comprising oldies, disco and contemporary songs from all over the world – a real joy for my ears! Clearly when in Tyrol one is prepared to listen to traditional Tyrolean music but after 10 days of listening only to the traditional music one starts getting weary of it. Since the weather has gotten really cold in the last few days, the big outside dining area was not serviced any more but I imagine it is really cosy in the summer. Apart from this, the Wirtshaus is child- and dog-friendly. Based on our experience with our stay in the Wildschönau region on the whole and with the Gasthaus Thalmühle in particular we highly recommend visiting the Thalmühle. The food is delicious, and every flavour was in balance, giving the food the top of taste. The service is on time, giving the time to the customer to prepare for the next dish. The owners and the staff are so polite, friendly, and very professional with a sense of humour. The atmosphere is unique,cosy, and friendly, and you feel welcomed at the first second. Eine perfekte Erfahrung. Relativ spontan entschieden wir uns, abends in der Thalmühle einzukehren. Nach kurzem (und sehr freundlichem) Telefonat, konnte uns zwar kein Tisch mehr um 18 Uhr, dafür aber auf 19:30 Uhr angeboten werden. Und rückwirkend betrachtet, war es die beste Entscheidung diesen Termin wahrzunehmen.

Da aktuell wohl ein neuer Radweg entsteht, ist rund um das Gasthaus derzeit Baustelle, Parkplätze sind sehr überschaubar (circa 10 Stück). Wir hatten Glück und sicherten uns den letzten verfügbaren. Direkt im Eingangsbereich wurden wir herzlich empfangen und in die urige Gaststube gelotst. Der Innenbereich lädt trotz rustikalem, dunklem Holz zum Verweilen ein.

Die Karte hielt sowohl flüssige, als auch kulinarische Highlights in ausreichender Menge parat. Wir entschieden uns zur Vorspeise für ein Kräuterschmalzbrot (serviert wurden sogar zwei), anschließend wählten wir die selbstgemachte Pasta und den Steirer-Salat mit Hähnchenfilet. Geschmacklich und optisch hervorragend - 5 Sterne. Auch der Nachtisch - Palatschinken mit Vanilleeis - wusste zu überzeugen.
