A Slice of Paradise – Bernie’s Tiki Hut is the Heart of Freeport!

If you’re ever in Freeport, Bahamas, do yourself a favor and RUN—not walk—to Bernie’s Tiki Hut. This place is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beautiful beach, the welcoming atmosphere, and the warm hospitality of Bernie herself—a truly amazing woman with a heart of gold.

The food? Out of this world. Fresh, flavorful, and easily the best we had on the island. You can taste the love in every bite. The drinks are just as incredible—delicious, tropical, and only $5 each! Yes, you read that right. $5 for paradise in a cup.

The vibe at Bernie’s is laid-back and joyful, with free chairs, tables, and umbrellas for guests to use—no hidden charges, just pure Bahamian hospitality. We spent hours lounging on the stunning beach, soaking in the sun, sipping cocktails, and enjoying every second of this little piece of heaven.

But what truly made our visit unforgettable was Bernie herself. She went above and beyond in the most meaningful way: she helped my fiancƩ propose to me on the beach. It was magical, heartfelt, and more perfect than I ever could have imagined. Bernie helped plan every detail, making the moment incredibly special.

We’ve already made plans to return in two years, and the best part? Bernie is going to help us get married on that very same beach. We can’t imagine saying ā€œI doā€ anywhere else—or with anyone else helping us bring our dream wedding to life.

Thank you, Bernie, for everything. For the amazing food, the cold drinks, the beautiful memories, and most of all, your kindness. You’re a treasure, and Bernie’s Tiki Hut is a must-visit for anyone coming to Freeport.

We’ll see you again soon—next time, as husband and...

Here's what we did and what you need to do for the best of a good time. After we got off our cruise ship and inquired with a lady on security watch, we were pointed in the direction of Bernies Tiki Hut. We hooked up with a van cab to haul all of us the half-hour drive to our destination. $14 for a round trip with a great driver named Meko. Meko assured us we would not be disappointed. When we arrived we walked past a high dollar ritzy place down beach a bit to what seemed to be just a small cook hut. But oh my, out of that hut came an atmosphere of love and belonging. We visited extensively with the lovely lady Bernie and our amazing chef Anton. She mixed our drinks, while Anton worked his magic close by. The aroma was intoxicating as he served up snapper, conch and lobster. The beach was beautiful and was so less crowded than all that ritzyness close by. Prices were cheap. 5 bucks for drinks and 20 for a full plate of great food. Chairs and umbrellas were free, they just asked if you'd buy a drink. As Meko came to get us, the last bunch out, we had the music to the song "Goodness of God" playing. Our group, a bunch of God chasers, were singing. Not far into the song we had Bernie, Anton and Meko right beside us joining in. Folks, we had the best "non excursion" excursion ever! Thank you Bernie and Anton for our best...

5-Star Review for Bernie’s Tiki Hut - Freeport, Bahamas šŸŒ“šŸ¹ Paradise Found at Bernie’s Tiki Hut! šŸ¹šŸŒ“ If you’re in Freeport, skip the fancy resorts and head straight to Bernie’s Tiki Hut for the ultimate beachside bliss! We stumbled upon this gem during our cruise stop (it’s right on the stunning Taino Beach, easy to find as the first stall you enter), and it was hands down the highlight of our trip. The vibe is pure island magic – colorful picnic tables on the sand, gentle waves crashing nearby, and Bernie and Bernadette greeting everyone like old friends with their infectious smiles and warm hospitality. It’s rustic, fun, and feels like a true local secret, not some tourist trap! The food? Oh man, where do I even start? We devoured the cracked conch (so tender and flavorful, prepared fresh right in front of us!), grilled snapper that was perfectly seasoned and crispy, and a side of conch salad that was zesty and refreshing. Bernie and his Wife made us feel right at home, chatting with us about island life and even letting us join in the fun around the fire. The beach is gorgeous and mostly empty, perfect for relaxing post-meal. We’ve been to tons of spots in the Bahamas, but this one’s got heart and soul. We’ll be back next time – 5 stars isn’t enough; it’s a 10/10! šŸ‡§šŸ‡øšŸ¦Ŗ Photos &...
