Lunch Garden Wilrijk — Restaurant in Antwerp

I wish I could give it more stars, as the cleanliness, organization of the establishment and food were okay,....I won't penalize them for this. However, more than a few of the waitstaff need to receive sensitivity training and a healthy dose of learning how not to disrespect the customers. Overt pointing like a gaggle of 5 year olds, staring and giggling caused me to almost not eat the purchased meal and I needed to regroup and wipe away tears...and I don't tear up easily or often. This is mean girl behaviour that we admonish children for. The assumption of the three young women gathering at the cashier register, laughing and gawking at me is that I didn't see them. I did...it was acknowledged. I told my partner and it was a sad reception for myself as a very first visit to Belgium. We won't be back there. One of the lower points...

I ended up paying so much as the person at the checkout charged me everything apart instead of the menu lover. I paid 80 euros for 3 adults. I did explain to the old lady working at the checkout after seeing the bill that we wanted the menu and that we clearly told her about us wanting the dessert, and that she was saying that the dessert we needed to choose later as the price was different was nonsense because we wanted the menu in the first place, and she was like, I can't refund you the money. It’s the way it is—very bad customer service from her. She first said her name was Amelie and then told me her name was Miriam, so I don’t know which is her actual name… I hope they find a better person to work at the checkout because definitely someone else can do...

waarin werd beweerd dat alles in het restaurant halal is. Om zeker te zijn, heb ik vooraf zelf contact opgenomen met Lunch Garden en zij bevestigden telefonisch dat alles halal was. Dit gaf mij vertrouwen om daar te gaan eten.

Toen ik eenmaal aankwam, besloot ik voor de zekerheid nogmaals navraag te doen, ditmaal bij de chef ter plaatse. Tot mijn verbazing kreeg ik een heel ander antwoord: niet alles is halal, enkel de gerechten van de grill. Dit was een enorme teleurstelling, aangezien ik uitging van hun eerdere bewering dat alles halal zou zijn.

Desondanks besloot ik wat gerechten te bestellen: een hamburger, een kipmenu voor kinderen, en nuggets voor de kinderen. Wat een drama! De hamburger was simpelweg onsmakelijk: totaal geen kruiden, geen saus – een droge, smakeloze hap. Het kipmenu voor kinderen was ronduit schandalig: een klein stukje kipfilet, letterlijk 1/6 van een normaal stuk, wat absoluut onvoldoende is voor een kind. De kipnuggets waren nóg erger: koud en deels rauw.

Het geheel voelde aan als pure misleiding. Lunch Garden lijkt moslims bewust aan te trekken met claims over halal voedsel, terwijl slechts een beperkt deel – de grill – daadwerkelijk halal is. En zelfs die grill is absoluut de moeite niet waard.

De medewerkers zijn grotendeels studenten zonder enige ervaring of kennis. Ze leken totaal niet te weten wat ze aan het doen waren, en dat was pijnlijk duidelijk in de kwaliteit van het eten en de service.

Ik kan Lunch Garden absoluut niet aanraden. Als je goed eten en eerlijke service verwacht, blijf hier dan ver weg. Het is een verspilling van tijd,...
