I will start off with what I do liked. Wooden floor and wooden panelling, an old-fashioned gas stove and simple wooden tables without a table cloth. It breaths an air of a classic pub/bistro. Unfortunately there were more items to mention that I did not like. One was the price. Some reviewers mention it's reasonably priced, perhaps that was the case, but that no longer seems so. €28,75 for a Belgium stew is really on the expensive side, so I had high expectations (the Brugse Zot brewery offers it for less than €20,- and it's excellent). I left feeling deceived, the meat was tough as if it really hadn't stewed long enough and the sauce was watery, and lacked any deep flavouring you tend to get when using a dark beer as a basis for the sauce. I got charged €7.60 for a pint ( hey owner, what happened to 'I charge €4,- for everyone one' you mentioned 2 months ago?). Tap water was no option (as if this place has no running water?) Bottled water was an option and though I am prepared to get ripped off for a water bottle, I did not expect to be charged €11,- for it. What appalled me most was that the owner tried to tell me I was wrong for thinking this was too much it 'being Brugges' after all. That's rubbish, another place I ate the day before simply offer tap water when asked. Finally the old fashioned gas stove I mentioned in the beginning. Well, I'm not 100% sure, but it appeared to be the only means of heating the place. It was rather cold inside and what's more the toilets were completely unheated; it was just as cold as outside (it was -3 degrees Celsius). A lot of people were really positive about this place, and I went there because of those reviews. I don't know what changes, perhaps new owners or just financial issues. It leaves me feeling puzzled. It was half empty though, never a good sign for a Saturday evening.

Reeds al iets gaan drinken en ok. Vandaag als voorbijganger uitgescholden of mijn hondje(14 jaar) in voiturreke zijn pootjes waren afgesneden. Man was oude dikzak en kenbaar gefrustreerd.
