Johnny Flamingo — Restaurant in Diest

Where to start! I came in the night of 24/08, and was immediately seated by a very friendly team. The beer was excellent; I drank the Vedett, a complicated, citrussy aftertaster. Service was prompt, polite, and comfortable.

Now the main attraction. The meal of choice for tonight was the Singapore Chicken; a quirky but rather brilliant combination of Peanut sauce, Mango, and Bacon. The fries (by strict process of elimination) Were the most basic item on the plate; nevertheless they were still excellent. Choice of sauces was wide, and for once the hot sauce had some kick!

The burger itself was fantastic; a wild combination of ingredients that nonetheless seemed to compliment each other perfectly. the sweetness of the mango, crispy salt of the bacon, and rich thickness of the peanut butter all held together by a perfectly grilled chicken breast. It was a most excellent meal. If I had to offer one critique, it would be to consider toasting the buns, to prevent them from soaking up much of the sauces.

Amazing burgers, amazing staff - genuinely friendly and helpful. ive been sick recently so was fussy with my food choice but it was no problem for the guy to add stuff/take stuff off. My kid was being fussy too, didnt want the kids menu, wanted a burger but again, no problem to accommodate. The chips were incredible. Partner said his burger was one of best hes ever had. I cant wait to go again and this time order what i actually want (the pulled pork burger) rather than my dodgy tummy dictating what i can eat and having to keep it plain. ...But even their plain was delicious so i didnt feel hard done by. Rezervasyonunuz yoksa sıkıntı olabilir ama Burcu Karaaslan mutlaka size bir küçük masa önerecektir. Artık, sıradan insanların sıradışı hayatlar yaşadığı medeniyetin tam da göbeğindesiniz. Etrafınızı bir gözleyin. Koning Albertstraat 59 numaradaki bu mekan, size tokat gibi bir hayat dersi verecek. Mesele, yiyecek içecekten ziyade aklınızın zor alacağı bir gerçek ile mantığınız ve yaşadığınız kaosun içinden size görünecek. Upuzun boylu, güleryüzlü, 50’li yaşlarını çoktan geçmiş bir garson sipariş için size gelecek. Son derece nazik bir şekilde yiyecek ve içecek siparişlerinizi adisyona geçecek. Hızlıca başlayacak servis. Tek elindeki tepsiyi onca kalabalığın içinde titretmeden getirip içeceklerinizi bardaklarınıza döküp bir de teşekkür edecek. Christophe De Graef, beyefendi garsonumuzun adı. Haftada 3 gün bu mekanda garson olarak çalışıyor. Çok varlıklı, iyi eğitimli, yakışıklı. 4 dil konuşuyor. Liberal Parti’de yıllardır üst düzey siyaset yapıyor. Kimsenin pek umurunda değilken o sadece işini yapıyor. Bir gün televizyonda röportajı bile yayınlanıyor. Herkesin tanıdığı ve selamlaştığı biri… Sonra seçimler geliyor ve Belediye Başkanı seçiliyor. Ama o Johny Flamingo’da haftada 3 gün garsonluk yapmaya devam ediyor!.. Sokaklar tertemiz, Şehir...
