Genkai - Grill & Sushi — Restaurant in Hasselt

Very good sushi. I had the ‘all you can eat’, which lets you place two orders (I think) every ten minutes. The host, who was the manager, was nice and allowed me to have 3 orders because I made the reservation online (a mistake by Google) and came 1h30min before they closed and was therefore not able to take advantage of the full 2h30 min they allow. Orders are done on an iPad, and waiters come by periodically to take away unused plates.

The sushi came out pretty quickly and everything was very good. They had plenty to choose from, including soups and sides if desired. The chicken katsu (?) was tasty and crispy, but I didn’t care much for the salad that came with it. The spring rolls (loempia?) were good, but I felt that there were too many in the order since I was dining by myself. I don’t recall what it was, but the sushi with the crispy bits on top was a little dry, and the crisp on top made it even dryer. The unagi roll was my favorite- so savory and perfect!

They also had wifi, so I was able to do some work on my laptop while I was here. Definitely...

Aangenaam verrast door het hele concept en de kwaliteit van het eten.

Je kan online een tafel reserveren, waarbij je meteen aangeeft met hoeveel personen je komt en welk tijdslot je wenst. Alles verloopt vlot en overzichtelijk. Bij aankomst werden we vriendelijk onthaald en naar onze tafel begeleid, waar we een tablet kregen om zowel ons eten als drankjes te bestellen. Wij kozen voor de "All You Can Eat" formule belangrijk om te weten is dat de drankjes niet inbegrepen zijn en dus apart aangerekend worden.

Het bestellen gebeurt via de tablet en is super gebruiksvriendelijk. Je kan steeds 6 items per keer aanduiden, en tussen elke ronde moet je 10 minuten wachten, wat netjes wordt weergegeven via een aftelklok op het scherm. Je mag in totaal 2,5 uur blijven tafelen, wat ruim voldoende is om alles op het gemak te proeven.

Het restaurant zelf is sfeervol en gezellig ingericht. Ondanks dat het behoorlijk druk was tijdens ons bezoek, hadden we hier absoluut geen hinder van. We zaten comfortabel en genoten volop.

Het eten is van uitstekende kwaliteit: vers, smaakvol en goed gepresenteerd. Zowel de sushi, grillgerechten als bijgerechten waren top. De bediening is ook een groot pluspunt vriendelijk, vlot en constant bezig met het afruimen van lege borden en zorgen dat alles netjes blijft.

Als je klaar bent met eten, klik je gewoon op "assistentie" op de tablet, waarna je kiest hoe je wil betalen. Er komt dan iemand naar je toe en de betaling verloopt vlot en duidelijk. Super handig systeem!

Wat betreft parkeren: er is voldoende ruimte voor het restaurant zelf, en anders kan je makkelijk in de straat parkeren. Het was deze keer druk dus we parkeerde ons in de straat.

Dit is echt een aanrader. Zowel het concept, de bediening als het eten zijn dik in orde. Wij komen zeker...

I would never recommend this place only because the staff was so rude towards us and the concept of all you can eat is not that great. Can’t eat in peace. The staff never even tried to “make the customers happy”. They only tried to ignore and demean us. Very bad attitude working in the food industry. The food was good in the beginning and then it was more salty and they were trying to get rid of us. Such a disrespectful place.
