Den Bonten Os — Restaurant in Lede

I was there for dinner in December and honestly, this is the best DOVER SOLE ever, in a Restaurant before - and I have tried a lot. The cozy and rustic restaurant is located in a small village, Ledde in Belgium, what reminds me of a typically family owned restaurant in Austria. We started with a cheese and chark board with wild board pate(best ever), Serrano ham and blue cheese with homemade hummus and crispy bread. It was delicious, the wild boar pate was so good that I wanted to but it with me home, it had such a intense flavour and the dried fruit inside was made it a true delight. The red wine, we were recommended together with the blue cheese became a creamy flavour that just made sense. The main course was a fresh dover sole, with melted butter, lemon and parsley, bought in the morning at the market. Served together with tasty salads to share and fries. But it wasn’t just the food that made the evening perfect it was the lovely staff. The owner Dries,with his son, Arthur prepared the food for us, Liselotte with perfect and personalized service, made this dinner for us. The wine expertise of Dries is remarkable and a perfect match to the food served. He shared and explained the flavours and stories behind the wines and even gave us some special ones to try. I even got a private tour in the wine cellar. Liselott, Arthur (the son) and Dries made this dinner for my grandfathers birthday better than I could have imagined. In de zomer buiten op het terras zitten achteraan is een grote troef! Bediening is vriendelijk mazr gaat soms traag. Maar alle begrip ervoor. De spaghetti maakt alles goed! Deze zelfgemaakte spaghetti is super lekker. Vraag een kleine portie voor de kleine honger want de normale portie is echt groot. Met kaas erop. Maar o zo heerlijk!! Klein negatief puntje: er staat altijd wat water in het bord. Iedere keer. Vind ik persoonlijk iets minder smakelijk en snel te verhelpen door de saus beetje meer te dikken. Maar uiteindelijk is dit maar...
