Zappaz — Restaurant in Leuven

The food was beautifully presented and made with precision. The flavours takes one on an experience and elevates even the most simple ingredients to near heavenly status. There is also a good wine selection that compliments the dishes perfectly. The service was friendly and swift, but the waiting time between dishes was exceptionally long (20min). One does need time to savour the dish before the next, but the wait here was too long. The prices are quite high for what is offered. Lastly, despite the exquisite taste of the food, do not expect to go home with a full stomach. The portions are so small that even when having the 7 course degustation, you will leave hungry. On my way home I drove past a frituur and saw a student walk out with a large pack of fries. I lamented and thought that at least one of us would not go to bed...

Went to dinner at Zappaz and it was sensational!! The food was creative, filling and it tasted delicious as well. The service was extremely attentive with the waitstaff informing us of each and every course of our tasting menu. Detailed information about the wine was also highly appreciated. As for the atmosphere, the interior is dark with dim lighting. Good to know: the dinner lasted approximately 5 hours; we were a group of 9 people and we ordered the tasting menu for €125 per person plus the wine pairing. This is a new discovery I made thanks to my husband's Valentine's treat. We sat down in this beautifully designed modern dining room, and, although the coziness was mixed with loud conversations, soon our attention was drawn away from this minor discomfort by the beauty, taste, inventiveness and craftsmanship of the appetisers. Every single detail of the following courses made us feel even more pleased of being able to feel ourselves enveloped in the thoughts of the chef as he created these masterpieces.
