Chill Out Tessenderlo — Restaurant in Tessenderlo

The first time I went to this place it was an absolute 5/5. I was actually blown away because a few weeks beforehand I went to a pretty expensive place and this blew it completely out of the water.

My parents had an anniversary so we knew this was the place to go.

What went wrong:

From the onset we had one of the bad apples serve us: she just dropped all cutlery on our table with a big sigh and communicated in a very passive manner.

Immediately awkward. You don’t disrespect my mother like that.

We all looked at each other and initially brushed it off as her just having a bad day. But every time she came back it was a wave of defeated energy. It was hard to ignore it.

We even had discussions about it between tables with people we did not know. It became a joke.

Special way to connect with strangers?

Luckily there was also a 10/10 waiter. Our saving grace. But at the same time this was negated because the third waitress was also frustrated as can be.

It became clear these people do not communicate with each other the way a team should.

At a certain point one of the waiters was yelling an order from table into the kitchen. Efficient? Maybe. Pleasant? Not at all. Felt like she wanted to expend minimum effort. She acted like she was working at a market.

I’ll give it one more shot. Because the first time was excellent. The second time was the inverse of the first experience.

I hope the two bad waiters are coached correctly on how to deal with customers and overall behaviour. They were toxic overall and really bring down the entire place.

If the next time the experience is the same I will ask the boss for the kind server to serve our table exclusively. Don’t want my money go to waste by bad service. I spent over 200 euros for 4 people so I expect at least the level of friendliness and service you get in a kebab shop.

Wij hebben ten eerste vrij lang op ons eten moeten wachten ondanks dat het op dat moment helemaal niet druk was in het restaurant. Mijn dochter bestelde spaghetti bolognese maar kreeg spaghetti met zalm/spek. Daardoor moest mijn dochter uiteindelijk heel lang wachten op haar eten terwijl wij al aan het eten waren. De spaghetti die ze uiteindelijk kreeg was helemaal niet vers en ook niet warm. Mijn vrouw had frieten besteld bij haar gerecht en ze zijn zelfs komen zeggen dat de frieten eraan kwamen maar die zijn nooit bij ons terecht gekomen. Deze frieten waren deels bestemd voor onze zoon van 2 jaar (piratenbordje) maar die moesten we helaas teleurstellen en heeft uiteindelijk wat spaghetti meegegeten. Uiteindelijk wilden ze de frieten wel alsnog komen brengen maar ons eten was al op! Je betaalt daarnaast 3 euro voor een klein kommetje met saus maar deze saus had qua smaak net zo goed uit een pakje kunnen komen. Op het einde wilden we de rekening maar dat waren ze blijkbaar vergeten. Er werd wel excuses aangeboden maar dit kon niks meer doen aan onze tegenvallende ervaring. The place was perfectly fine to dine! It’s a lil bit cold inside, so don’t wear thin clothes during winter. Food was great, price was fair enough with what you get. The kitchen closes at 9pm so we have to hurry in ordering our dessert. Every saturday is disco night, check their Facebook for there schedule.
