ROBUUST — Restaurant in Zutendaal

We can say that by now Robuust has become one of our favourite places if we want to be sure we get very good food and drinks for a correct price. And friends who know us, know that we can be really critical when it comes to our dining experiences. Also regarding the sizing of their portions they stay above the average, especially in these inflation times in which a lot of others serve you less for higher prices. Extra credits also for having a variety of vegetables with their main courses and just lovely how they diversify this on regular base and stay creative with how it is prepared. The same for the desserts which at a lot of places simply are not original or are just basic, while it should be like at Robuust where they really know who to end a treat in style. Regarding setting it is a trendy place and everything has been very clean everytime we visited it and this as well at the beginning as in the end of a day. Also correct waiting times, at least if one does not see dining as a sprint but something to enjoy. This says a lot about the owners who clearly are very experienced, seeing Robuust has the extra touch on all levels and last but not least they have an eye for talent when it comes to staff. Every now and then there might be a new member who still has working points but does not everyone when he or she is new?! However the regular staff stays friendly with a smile even when it is very busy and nothing is too much (which should be logic but is not anymore these days with decreasing work ethics). It is the second time I go, the drinks were very badly served, the first time because the drink was very bad and they themselves realized and the guy at the bar terrible attention, apparently does not understand English, (as if to go to the restaurant you have to be Belgian and speak Dutch) that is discriminatory attitude. The second time I went (I went with more people, I wouldn't go back) they charged me for a bad drink because I "tried it" obviously the normal thing to do is to try it, otherwise how am I going to know it was bad? When going to the supermarket we impulsively decided to have some lunch. The place just opened and the menu looked great with a variety of options. The staff (I believe it was the owner) was very friendly and accommodating. We drank a glass of verdejo which was wonderful. The Croque Monsieur and shakshuka were prepared exquisitely and were very filling for the price.
