Yamwits Lodge is located in the beautiful Maya Mountains in Central Belize and offers a simple stay with minimal accommodations for the traveler that does not require all the bells whistles of a luxury lodge. And that's just fine with me, because for the price point and what I needed, it was perfect and located in one of the most beautiful spots in Belize. The rooms are small and clean and provide the basics without any fluff. The restaurant is good and Marvin and his wife do a good job of accommodating the guests with a warm welcome and inquiring about meal requests. The food is good, the beer is cold and it's just off the road for anyone looking for a quick |"cool spot." Joy - the owner - was very nice and welcoming. I love that you can have a simple stay in this stunning location and not be distracted by the unnecessary non essentials that so many places have and can be a distraction from the natural beauty that abounds in Belize. I have a property I am working on not far from here and plan to spend a lot of time at Yamwits Lodge. If you want a simple yet satisfying stay smack in the middle of the Maya Mountains with a good restaurant within walking distance from your room. Yamwits gets it right. |A special thanks to Joy and Marvin for accommodating us in our room change request! We will see you again soon....

The room was fine, the place is very quiet and you really feel like you're out in the wilderness, especially at night, there's no artificial lights outside the room so when you turn your lights out it is very, very dark. ||Joy, the proprietor was on holiday when we stayed, but we were looked after very well by her manager Marvin who showed us to our room and helped us with our luggage and was very relaxed, there was no rush to chase us out of our room first thing in the morning, it was all very laid back. He and his wife also ran the onsite restaurant, no choice of menu, my boyfriend had the ubiquitous chicken and I had a salad, the food was fine, if not particularly exciting, but just as well they have a restaurant as there's very little else along the Hummingbird Highway. ||The big drawback is the restaurant closes very early at 6pm and there's nothing to do in the area after that, all the places of interest such as the Blue Hole National Park and St Herman's cave close at 4pm. We had a car and you need one in this region so you're not...
