If you want an authentic experience I cannot recommend this place enough. When I say it's a hole in the wall... there are literally holes in the walls! :D We were there on Reggae night and they were doing a full buffet. I think the wind was keeping people away because it was locals and ourselves that were there and we did end up sitting at the bar inside because of the heavy winds.
I cannot tell you how KIND the owner is here. He's a gem of a man and an awesome cook. We had some AMAZING coconut shrimp curry, I basically ate it like a soup it was so good. While we were waiting for the buffet, he brought us out some bowls to try. Then when we were leaving he insisted we fill some to-go boxes, which my boyfriend happily filled, and the owner generously offered MORE to-go boxes, and he threw a couple of Rum Runners in with our meal.
I would suggest bringing cash in, they were able to run our card, but their connection is a little spotty and we weren't able to tip as generously as we would have liked with the cash we had on us. If you're looking for cloth napkin high dining, this isn't going to be the place for you. If you're looking for great home cooking, a local flair, and amazing people you can't do better...
Read moreHole in the wall which was perfect! Met owner both dinners and he does cooking. Two tables on this small pier and both nights we were the only ones eating on it. One night only people that were there! Had a bonfire for us. They are relaxed...can stay as long as want. Food was the best we had on the island. Kids had fish sticks/bites made of snapper that was amazing. One night we brought our catch to him and he took it and made dishes and deep fried some for kids in little strips along with sides. Absolute great laid back non touristy trap. No US music playing.no tvs. Just basics and eating over the water. Drinks good too. Kids wanted to take home Belizean change and we gave them a $2 bill and asked just for couple coins and two staff ran next door and brought back $5 worth and refused to take any of it back. Go here. Perfect place. Would eat here every night if...
Read moreWe had our rehearsal dinner at Sundeck. It was recommended by the property manager at La Perla del Caribe- where we hosted our destination wedding. She was RAVING about the food and atmosphere.
There was a bit of a mishap as far as the timing of everything but Dan the owner quickly was able to get dinner ready and whipped up drinks. He was so kind and helpful even though the mishap wasn't his fault.
The food was INCREDIBLE, drinks too.
We had a bonfire and despite it raining for the majority of the time, we all had a blast. All 65 of us, dancing around the fire in the rain (and no rain!).
We will...
