As an tourist from the US that speaks Portuguese poorly, I had a great experience here during my 5 night stay. The staff, especially Francisco and Leila, are expectational. Breakfast is included and is lovely, with warm service and lots of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, and bread as well as an additional menu (free) for omelets, hot sandwiches and other egg items. The pool and boat dock are beautiful, and our room was cleaned daily and very nice. I would most recommend booking a private boat tour through the hotel. For a 6 hour trip around to various islands it cost around R$2800 (9 people max) but it was a highlight of everyone's trip in our group. There is a 24 hour boat within walking distance that will take you across the water to the beach and other restaurants and bars. These places are relatively expensive, but the beach is amazing and not crowded at all, with warm, clear and still waters. The hotel is located within a gated community, so food is limited outside of the hotel and beach area. The hotel food for lunch and dinner is fine but expensive. There is a very good cafe at the front of the community located to the left of the gas station. The market in the gas station is the cheapest place in walking distance from the hotel to buy alcohol and snacks. Sushi Frade and the pizza place in the neighborhood are good too for food options. Location wise, I would recommend renting a car to visit if you feel comfortable. Otherwise, Uber is unreliable in the area and the hotel can coordinate taxi service but prices can be variable, especially if you are a tourist. The adjacent city is not safe at night, but the community around the Hotel is incredibly secure and I never had any concerns. The bus to Paraty and other stops along the way is inexpensive (R$20) but the bus was...
Read moreStayed here for 2 nights and we were very impressed with the quality of everything at a very reasonable price. There is a superb swimming pool with bar and decking area with its own berth from where you can take boat trips to the islands. The rooms are spacious and well appointed including even insect repellent. Those at the front have nice view of the channel, even the standard ones. Food was extremely good although there was quite a long wait for each course. Excellent self service breakfast. Showers and aircon both worked very well, as did wifi and pc for guests' use.|The friendly owner made a point of chatting to all the guests, mainly Argentinian, whilst we were there.|Points for improvement: badly lit steps leading down to pool area which were rather dangerous, this was pointed out to owner so hopefully he will do something about it; a couple of light bulbs needing replacing in room; snooker table in poor condition. But overall a lovely hotel in a great position in Frade ( note this is a closed condominium about 30 mins by car...
