We visited here for lunch at the end of March with friends who had just arrived in Salvador. The restaurant looked nice and was only about 20% full. The food was tasty and the decoration light and interesting. The food took along time to arrive, which is ok in itself, but when it arrived one meal was left off the order (we did not reorder and and shared the food amongst the children that we had) and one meal came after everyone else had finished eating. Drinks we ordered on arrival, came after we had finished eating including a simple beer. Despite me going to the bar to ask for them when asking the waitress several times failed. But the worst was the over charging on the bill. I picked up on the 6 beers when we had the one (you know the one that took about 30 mins to open and bring to the table). The price for 6 beers was not even correct. I got up and quietly told the lady who had introduced herself when we arrived as the owner I would like the bill and was unfortunately not willing to pay service as (for the first time in my life) as it had been so utterly bad. The bill arrived with service on it... and after asking the for the removal of the 5 beers and re informing I was unwilling to pay service the waiter starting begging me to pay service, it was really embarrassing with him just repeatedly asking me to pay. I asked if they only receive service and do not get a salary too, said they did receive a salary but kept on pleading for me to pay. I dont know what was going on that day, we just wanted a good meal with friends we had not seen in some years and were all in a good mood. Rio Vermelho is blessed with many amazing and interesting restaurants so there is no need to eat here. If you do the food is not bad at all but check your bill very carefully. Later at home I went though the online menu and compared to what we consumed and when that did not add up either, I decided to go back to the restaurant in the evening. and talk to a manager or the owner but...
Read moreNice restaurant aiming for a more gastronomical take on the local cuisine than surrounding restaurants. Interior decorations on the quirky side with mismatched tables and chairs and seemingly the paintings are for sale. Also a terrace outside.
Friendly and prompt service and the food was very tasty. The starter of bolinho de arroz was good. The main course of moqueca de banana com camarão was delicious. The food was a bit slow to arrive, but worth the wait.
Prices are a bit steep, but not at all unreasonable - especially at lunch time. Total for 2 courses and either coffee or dessert and a soft drink came in at R$59.40....
Read moreI was looking forward to this restaurant because of the good reviews but unfortunately was disappointed from the first minute.
I waited 10 minutes just to get the menu It took 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Starter and the main course was served at the same time 0 attention from the waiters. You need to ask at least twice for everything The beef (filet mignon) was dry and the pasta bathed in sauce. Waited another 10 minutes just to get a water and then again 15 minutes for the bill (after having asked two times) Paid in cash and waited another 15 minutes to get back the change Total...
