My friend and I took a tuc-tuc taxi across the border from Leticia into Tabatinga. The bartender from Puerto Nariño who made us drinks recommended this restaurant and we are so grateful. It’s two blocks off the main road and we wouldn’t have found it on our own. It’s a quiet oasis where you sit at dark wooden tables set with orange and green tablecloths that evoke the tropical Amazon climate vibes. 60’s Brazilian music wafts from the speakers and a Spanish-speaking waiter patiently tends to you, including advising what food to have after food poisoning from a street empanada. I must say, the “Arroz con frango” for 30 reales treated my stomach very cordially. The chicken (wing?) was smoked and grilled and served with a generous portion of rice, french fries, patacones (fried green plantains) and a well-dressed salad. The best part was arguably the rose-colored “aji” sauce (spicy!) and “arina de yuca” that you sprinkled on top of the meat. My friend had the “tres fronteiras” with beef - grilled beef with a beautifully fried egg, beans, french fries, rice and the same well-dressed side salad. This cost 34 reales. To drink, she had a Michelada (not as good as in Mexico), but nevertheless refreshing with its salted rim. Me and my sensitive stomach stuck to cold, bottled, still water. We were able to pay in Colombian Pesos, but only in cash (efectivo/ en caja). It cost us about 16 € with a 10% tip (which is typical). In short- this place comes highly recommended! Cross the frontera and come to “Tres Fronteras - Colombia...
