We stayed for 4 nights in February. A booking of three people with two rooms, my wife and I in one and my father-in-law in another. Upon arrival it was made clear that early check-in was unavailable and we'd have to wait until 3pm even though it was plain to see the rooms were ready and the previous guests were long gone. Two hotel staff gave lengthy talks about the facilities but mainly on tours and only in Spanish with no effort to translate or alternatives for non-spanish speaking guests. It became apparent that no hotel staff spoke English even the management and there were zero attempts to assist with the language barrier. Luckily for me my wife and father-in-law are bilingual, Spanish and English speaking therefore had to translate the necessary information. After lunch and a walk we returned to reception only to find one of the rooms wasn't ready as the a/c was not working. We all went to the room that was ready which was mine and my wife's. Pleasant enough although the room was very hot. It was after 4pm and we hadn't heard whether the 2nd room was ready so headed to reception who called up maintenance and said it was ready, no initiative to contact us, we were constantly having to chase. My father-in-law gets to his room and the a/c hasn't been fixed so has to get maintenance back in and luckily gets it working. At this time we have a look at his room and it's double the size of ours which was baffling as he was single occupancy and we were a pair. It became apparent the room my wife and I were staying in didn't have working a/c but it was late and got through the first night with the fans. We informed reception of the issue but they said we had to be in the room whilst they checked the problem, we were on our way to a tour so had to revisit the issue upon our return that afternoon. Maintenance did some checks and convinced us that the unit was cooling down and will be working shortly. It did not cool down and by the time we came back to our room it was late and we were too tired to have someone in our room trying to fix the a/c unit especially as my wife was in the early stages of pregnancy and needed to rest. Additionally I was chasing a huge cockroach out of the room. On the third day we spoke to reception again but they said the same thing, we needed to be there so the issue was only checked in the evening and they asked us to leave it on whilst we had dinner and get back to us. To no surprise the unit was still not working, we returned to reception, by this point it was 9pm, and they finally offered a resolution which was to change rooms. Luckily it was next door so didn't have to transport our belongings far. During the move we noticed for the 2nd time a large cockroach in the room. We were told the new room had been checked, cleaned and the a/c was working which it was. My wife then finds five or six animal droppings by the side of the bed, from what we could see these were mice pellets. We were furious, it was after 9.30pm and were exhausted. We complained to reception although my wife had to do all of it as they could only speak Spanish. We were met with apologies and maintenance was back again to clean and disinfect the area. We were reassured it was bat droppings which was not reassuring as it was still animal droppings in our new room which we were told was cleaned. I must add that the room was still the same size as the original, there was no gesture of goodwill after all the nonsense to upgrade us. The night management informed us that he would raise the complaint to his manager the following day. We didn't hear anything the following day until the afternoon when we had to chase the complaint at reception. This manager told us pretty much the same as the previous and said they would raise it to their manager. I'm sure you can see where this is going. Upon check out our complaint had not been raised to senior management and we were not compensated for any of the inconvenience caused...
Read moreThis wonderful gem in the Amazon really made my trip. Charming staff and delicious fresh food and juices, with its heart-shaped pool and tropical gardens, I really felt sooooo incredibly relaxed and happy. Travelling solo I needed the perfect escape from city life and I loved every bit about the Decameron Decalodge Ticuna – Leticia. I organized private excursions so I could explore different parts with just a guide and skipper including Peruvian tributaries. It blew my mind. Jungle treks, bird watching, swimming in the Amazon and fishing for piranha was simply awesome yet exhausting, so at the end of a long day it was sheer bliss to return to my wonderfully spacious air-conditioned room to read or just zzzz in the hammock in the veranda. TIPS Learn some basic Spanish; it helps. Or, if you’re thick like me and can’t string a single Spanish sentence together, use sign language; the staff are extremely patient and keen to help in any way they can. Breakfast starts 7am when everyone logs-in to the internet. Rise at 5am and you’ll find their wifi is as good as the one you...
Read moreI searched a number of hotels in Laticia and this is the best in town. I'm not always a fan of Decameron hotels as the quality can vary at each location but Decalodge Ticuna was excellent in every respect. The service was excellent from everyone. Always cheerful, always willing to help and always very friendly. The room was very large and modern, having everything we needed including hot water. The pool was wonderful after a day on the Amazon river. The food was very good and although lunch wasn't included it wasn't needed as we were never there at lunch. The beverages and cocktail's were also very delicious. The hotel itself is very lovely and quaint. Nicely decorated and clean. The location is perfect as it's a short distance walk to the marina and the main streets of Laticia. We booked a tour through the hotel the first day that lead to making friends with a few other guests staying at the hotel which was fun. In total a very comfortable hotel. Thank you Decalodge Ticuna for your awesome service and providing us so many lovely...
