Italy Casa Italiana — Restaurant in Região Imediata de Campinas

Excellent Italian restaurant in Campinas. I wish I'd known about it when I lived here for a couple of months in 2015... Moreover, this is the only place I found in Brazil offering home-made sourdough bread, and sweets made with sourdough (e.g. chocolate cookies, and I believe also croissants). The muffins were incredibly tasty, given the natural exuberance of the Brazilian corn. I couldn't taste the pizza, unfortunately, since I went for lunch and I was told the pizza oven is only on for dinner (or at lunch but upon prior request). I had a plate of gnocchi made with red potatoes, which were extremely good, and my friend had lasagna. The dish that impressed me most was an antipasto called "pirâmide": a pyramid made of fried pizza dough sticks (the chef says they're from Palermo; I thought the fried pizza concept was from Naples; but in any case: yum!) with some Parma ham on top, and burratine on the side. I was then told that they make (and smoke) some of the charcuterie in house. Not the Parma ham, of course, which has to be made in Parma to bear the name, but lonzino, pancetta, and guanciale. I was brought a sample of all three: they were excellent. I think this would be considered a very good restaurant...

Fui no Italy com altas expectativas, já que moro no bairro e gostaria de bons restaurantes locais para frequentar. Contudo, a experiência deixou a desejar.

Pedi um Arancino de entrada e foi a melhor parte da noite. O bolinho estava sequinho, crocante, bem recheado e saboroso. Esse prato eu realmente recomendo e voltaria só para comer isso.

De prato principal pedi uma macarrão carbonara. O creme de ovos parecia conter creme de leite, a massa não estava al dente e o guanciale era muito salgado (nunca comi guanciale, então pode ser apenas minha percepção). Senti que o prato deixou a desejar.

A sobremesa foi, infelizmente, uma grande decepção. Pedi um tiramisu e a primeira passada da colher já deu indícios que a experiência não seria o que se espera de um bom tiramisu. A bolacha não estava fofinha, pois, de acordo com o garçom, eles descongelam na hora de servir. Em vez disso, estava dura e gelada a ponto de deixar os dentes sensíveis. Pagar 45 reais por um tiramisu com bolacha congelada não é razoável. O creme de mascarpone também estava muito líquido, senti pouca cremosidade. Pedi para trocar a sobremesa por outro tiramisu, já que não estava nada bom. O segundo veio com problemas similares, pouca melhora em relação ao primeiro.

Outra coisa a pontuar é que o estabelecimento estava em violação dos direitos dos consumidores. Eles cobraram couvert artístico sem informar antes, o que é obrigatório pela lei. Não encontrei nenhuma placa pelo restaurante que avisasse sobre a cobrança. Também incluíram a taxa de serviço sem solicitar antes, o que é desrespeitoso com o cliente, visto que ela não é obrigatória.

Saí do restaurante bastante insatisfeito com a comida, e parcialmente satisfeito com o serviço. Os garçons precisam ser instruídos quanto ao CDC. O ambiente é até aconchegante, mas não compensou os outros dois fatores. Não...

They've just opened at the beginning of February, but it's already very professional. The place is clean and modern, right in the front area of Italy Pizza e Pasta. The staff are very friendly and explained the menu well. All the pastries are handmade there and were very delicious. We even got a Pain au Chocolat to take home with us. I would definitely recommend anything made with the massa folhada. They use French and Italian flour and French butter in the dough. The coffee was very good too, which is apparently from Brazilian-grown beans that are sent for preparation and...
