I absolutely love the roti here! It hasn't changed in taste and quality at all.
My recommendation: MARTABAK BEEF. The beef was very aromatic, the roti was crispy and not too oily and the portion is very large.
ROTI KOSONG / ROTI TELUR. The roti is crispy and aromatic. The beef and chicken curry was flavourful and rich. You can add on meat for an additional $1 or make it a set meal for $1.80 (curry with meat + dhalca + condiment).
DOSAI BEEF. Compared to the plain dosai, the dosai beef is much more flavourful and aromatic from the onions and beef. The dosai was also quite crispy when it's still hot. It comes with beef/chicken curry, dhalca and chutney.
NASI LEMAK ISTIMEWA. This dish had coconut rice, fried chicken, beef rendang, boiled egg, sambal and anchovies. The rice was fragrant and rich with coconut milk which complimented the slightly spicy sambal. The chicken was crispy and not dry. Beef rendang was decent.
KAMPONG AYAM PENYET. The rice was steamed with butterfly pea flowers giving the rice a beautiful blue colour but did not contribute to additional flavour. The chicken was crispy and seasoned nicely. The sambal was a traditional penyet sambal that was slightly spicy but gave flavour to the whole dish. It came with a side of fried tofu and tempe.
BEEF STEW KOLO MEE. This had an interesting flavour fusing both Asian and Western taste. The beef was soft and kolo mee had a nice chew. It was very light tasting and I recommend it for those who want a twist from the traditional kolo mee.
The service was great and staffs were friendly. The place had a very lovely and...

On my first visit there today, I had their
SIGNATURE ROTI KOSONG, and
ROTI TELUR CHEESE with egg & cheese
We added $1.80 each to make it a set and get Curry Chicken/Beef (with meat), Dhalsa (vegetarian) & one condiment of Sardines/ Corned Beef.
The pratas came piping hot and crispy, especially the kosong prata. Each came as a big square prata, twice the size of my face.
The pratas were good enough to eat on its own, without gravy. Most pratas are oily and leave grease on the plates, but theirs weren't oily.
Apparently, that is the hallmark of their pratas as they make it healthier, but remain crispy. And their crew start to make the dough daily at 4am, so as to keep the pratas fresh.
The curry, dahl and condiments were very well cooked and tasty too.
I selected a variety of drinks, as they were all so enticing. The 4 drinks, that I chose, were all very well done and special:
TEH TARIK (LESS SWEET),
ICED TEH TARIK (LESS SWEET)
ICED TEH-C SPECIAL contains tea, condensed milk & gula melaka
ICED 3 SOUR
The only disappointment here today was that I couldn't say hi to Wu Chun, as he was still in China.

Read moreThe roti is nice and crispy; if your preference is the uber crispy crust type of roti in-lieu of the more traditional crispy fluffy stuff.
The ambience is good. The curry that comes with your roti tastes good. The waiter we had was very helpful. But this is where my review takes a 180!
Drinks were... eekh... Who screws up iced lemon tea and bandung? I almost hurled reading "Cendol Temburong" in the menu but thought to myself, "how bad could it be...?". After the agony... Please remove the "Temburong" name. It's as if you did it just to put the gimmicky "we don't want you to wait once a year to drink it" line. I'd rather wait to have the real stuff once a year cos I know it'll be amazing.
Burnt otak-otak anyone?
The roti with Bake Culture's signature egg yolk filling was... a waste of time creating. Cos any small amount of curry it was dipped into overpowered the taste. I guess I was expecting too much from this "Chef recommended" item. And the zero wow factor when the dish is presented to you says it all. (Btw, my niece pointed out the zero wow factor for the price).
Finally, stop throwing around the word "authentic". It doesn't mean anything anymore after what we experienced. Along with that, you can also remove the "Best roti in Brunei" line as well.
Back around 180 again. I'd go there again to try the other stuff. Have a nice meal. Enjoy...
