A Serene Seaside Delight: The Bay Restaurant - a recommendation if you happen to be roaming in this geography visiting the Black Sea resorts in Bulgaria.
4.7/5
Nestled on the outskirts of Varna, Bulgaria, The Bay restaurant offers a picturesque dining experience by the small beach on Black Sea. With its inviting decor and breathtaking views, this establishment sets the stage for a relaxing time
During our visit to The Bay, we had the pleasure of savoring a variety of dishes. Our selections included the Lamb Meatballs, Pomegranate Molasses Salad, Rice and Mussels, and Falafel.
The Lamb Meatballs were a true highlight of our meal. Skillfully prepared, each bite was full of rich, tender lamb flavors. The meatballs were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The accompanying dipping sauce added a tangy twist that complemented the dish exceptionally well.
The Pomegranate Molasses Salad arrived as a vibrant masterpiece on our table even if looking very humble! Medley of salad vegetables, succulent pomegranate seeds, walnuts was refreshing combination of flavors and textures was a delightful surprise. The tangy molasses drizzle added a unique sweetness to the salad, creating a symphony of taste that left us craving for another bite.
We also enjoyed the Rice and Mussels, a dish that showcased the freshest ingredients from the sea. Plump mussels rested atop a bed of fragrant, fluffy rice. The mussels were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. The rice absorbed the delicious broth, enhancing the overall experience with its aromatic qualities.
Lastly, we relished the Falafel, a classic Middle Eastern dish done justice by The Bay. The falafels were flawlessly crispy on the outside, revealing a soft and well-seasoned interior. Paired with a tangy tahini sauce, the falafels was satiating.
The service at The Bay was exceptional, with the attentive and friendly staff ensuring that our dining experience was flawless. Their knowledge of the menu and helpful suggestions added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal.
While our dining experience was outstanding, The Bay could benefit from expanding their vegetarian and vegan offerings. Although the dishes we ordered were superb, a wider range of options would cater to a broader audience and further enhance the dining experience.
For an unforgettable feast that combines exceptional food, stunning views, and warm hospitality, highly recommend...
Read moreBooked a table at the front by the window to make the most of the gorgeous view, but upon arrival were put in the middle of the restaurant. When we told the staff we booked a front table, they just shrugged and mumbled they are all booked. Starters were tasty, but nothing really special. For main course our son ordered the kebab, which was very good. My wife and I ordered the fish platter for 70bgn. Really disappointed with this dish. It arrives and looks like something for half the price. The decoration was a piece of wilted, manky salad. We told the waitress that if you are going to try and decorate the plate, do it properly. Her reply is that it was not meant to be eaten. We know that, but it didn't look nice and ruined the whole look of the dish (and it really needed something to help). Generally the waitress had a bad attitude the whole time (a lesson in how not to receive a tip!) After pouring our wine it is placed in an ice bucket several feet away. No problem, except that if you are going to do that, you should keep an eye on the glasses of the guests. We often ran out. The only really positive thing is the kunefe desert. Absolutely outstanding. Shame about the service.
We have been here so many times and also during the winter when it moves to graffiti hotel in the city. It is always a bit hit and miss, but this time was just awful. I really don't think we will ever go back.
Oh and our advice......just order meat kebabs. All the fish stuff is just...
Read moreWe've visited here a few times but unfortunately were let down on our final occasion. Whilst eating the pork kebab, my partner noticed a few bites in that there was a bug inside his food. It emerged and hid under the plate. We were instantly put off our meals and began feeling nauseous at the thought of it being there the whole time. We informed the waiter who then brought over the manager who removed the bug with a tissue and then offered to replace the meal. We refused the offer and he walked off with the kebab and our appetizer. Having realised he was not coming back we again asked the waiter to bring over the manager. We explained we would like the bill and that we were not going to pay for the kebab or plate of fried potatoes as these had not been eaten. When we received the bill we had still been charged for the potatoes but at this point wanted to leave quickly due to my partner feeling nauseous and needing to vomit. There was no apology from the manager and we are appalled at the disgusting service as well as the hygiene conditions which led to the incident. Make sure you inspect your food thoroughly before eating...
