I have eaten here many times before on my way to and from Siem Reap. But today was the worst experience. I ordered this fried pork ribs with rice dish ($3). In their picture menu, it includes sauce, pickles, and 3 pieces of ribs, but it turned out this is the order I got: 2 pieces of bony ribs with barely any meat, one thin slice of cucumber split in two pieces, and rice. I asked where is the sauce and pickles - they said they’re running out and walked away. Then when it came to paying the bill, they charged me 12,300 riels = $3 ($1=4100r). I don’t mind paying them the market exchange rate in riels since I didn’t have $ note, but at least make your food quality and serving portion worth the cost. Does this amount of food really cost $3 when most Khmer people can barely make $5/day? And when pork only costs $3-4/kg? And your restaurant is also not an A/C equipped restaurant or is in a mall/supermarket area. Why such bad quality and...
Read moreKind of cute but kind of a disaster. This is the roadside stop for hungry travelers on the Giant Ibis bus line. Arrival was somewhat disorganized, and they seem to only want to sell drinks, as the drink menu was prominently displayed. After asking, they finally presented a menu, but they didn’t have beef or chicken. After observing the menu for 5 minutes, I found that I could only order the fish. Uninterested, I decided to starve.
I opted for a bottle of water to hold me over for another 4 hours until I reached Phnom Penh. Paying for it was a hassle, as the poor connectivity meant I had to use offline mode on my ABA app, which the cashier was clueless about. After minutes of trying to connect to the internet, I finally figured it out.
Overall, I wasted 20 minutes for a bottle of water, and it was time to get back on the bus. This venue is nice to look at but useless. I would avoid this place as well as Giant Ibis bus lines...
Read moreAsked for beef noodle soup, they didn’t have it. Waiter pointed to an alternative on the menu, and I agreed.
Waited 40 minutes, then the manager came to me, and explained to me that at 11am they don’t serve breakfast anymore, and I should have ordered something from the lunch menu.
Apparently the waitress was not pointing to an alternative, and instead was pointing to “breakfast”, which was meant to communicate that they didn’t have breakfast.
For the record, I live in Cambodia for 10+ years and speak fairly decent Khmer. I talked Khmer with the girl. If she just would have answered in Khmer instead of pointing to the menu and walking away, I would have understood.
It seems like this place mainly caters to large tour busses and expects the driver to mediate between the guests and the staff.
All in all, a...
