When in ranch land and cattle country you have to mow down an authentic Alberta AAA steak, done to perfection. Longviews Little New York Bistro is the place to get it! From the moment I stepped inside this beautiful log cabin restaurant establishment I could immediately see that the owner and his wife put a lot of time and effort, work and care into their business. The ambience and atmosphere were both perfect. I was greeted by the owner himself who was very polite, professional, courteous and friendly. He provided a menu with excellent choice selections and also shared a hand written board with additional recommended featured specials. I knew I wanted … a nice, big, fat, juicy, tender, succulent, meat mountain of AAA grade, recently mooing, premium, Alberta beef steak … and that’s exactly what I was served … medium rare, with the homemade drizzled sauce and all the fix’ns, exactly the way I likes it! Yummy in my tummy! Thank you very much! Highly recommended! 5 Stars!

One look at the menu and you know that the food will not be your everyday fare. The owner came out and greeted us with a big smile and helped us decide - everything looked so good. I started with escargot in this amazing parsley sauce...and the garlic bread was perfect. My husband chose the root vegetable soup - seemingly simple but the flavours were just the right blend. For mains he ordered the braised lamb shank...which was so tender it was falling off of the bone. I had the jumbo shrimp and scallop linguini...it didn't disappoint. We then shared a saskatoon berry pie with the freshest berries and most amazing crust. We made a special request for Moroccan tea and it was wonderful...the perfect blend of green tea, fresh mint and just the right amount of sugar. We will definitely be back!

This restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but starts getting more special inside. It is less a bistro and almost more of a steak and pasta place. It is a rather small space so reservations can be your friend. I had the New York Strip special. It was every bit a 10oz steak. The sauce had an interesting but pleasant taste. The steak was cooked nicely to order on some very nicely cooked vegetables. The sauce was plentiful. My wife had a jumbo shrimp, prawn and seared scallops pasta. Everything was cooked nicely. The sauce had a slightly licorice taste from zambuka. It was a bit strange but had a nicely balanced flavour. The staff were great. Definitely a place to check out if you are visiting that Longview or passing through.

We stopped in because we trusted the Google Reviews that we read prior to choosing a restaurant. Huge mistake! Do NOT eat here if you want a good burger or a pleasant experience.

The burgers were terrible! These were some of the worst burgers I’ve ever eaten. Edible? Barely. Enjoyable? No! I would eat a Compliments brand burger from my own BBQ before I would eat one of these again (even if it were free)! I questioned the server on what spice (cumin?) was in them, that was so awful, and was told they couldn’t speak to that because they are not the chefs.

I asked for no mayo on my burger and for BBQ sauce (on the side) instead, when I ordered. My 3-year-old was going to eat some of the burger too but she won’t eat mayo or BBQ sauce. I was met with a $2.50 charge for the sauce (which was not disclosed when I ordered). I asked about this after settling the bill (why I was not told about the charge), and the server said she thought she had. I know she didn’t, because I would have skipped the sauce for THAT additional fee. Although, the burger was so awful (flavour/seasoning, dry, over-cooked with a nearly burned side) that it was good I had the BBQ sauce to mask it. I’m still curious to know which BBQ sauce they used, that they charged a premium for, because they would not tell me the brand.

After omitting the mayo, and paying a ridiculous up-charge for BBQ sauce, my child would not eat the burger. She said it, “wasn’t beef”, because it smelled and tasted funny.

My other child took one bite of her grilled cheese and wouldn’t eat the rest. One side was burned and I had to scrape off the black. My partner and I both tried it and it was ok to good, but did not pass the kid test!

The French fries at this restaurant were good. Sadly, they were probably the best part of all our meals.

I have already told friends and family to avoid this place and eat anywhere else in Longview. Disappointing food and an even more disappointing experience dealing with staff. I did not appreciate the secrecy (no answers - just deflection) and no apologies. I especially did not like our sever not owning her mistake of non-disclosure regarding the BBQ sauce fee. That rubbed me the wrong way! We will not be back.

If you want burgers, or grilled cheese, this is NOT the place to go. Two...

After reading the shining reviews of this restaurant, my girlfriend and I decided to pop in for lunch. It turned out to be one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had.

The worst thing was there were flies everywhere in the restaurant, larvae festering on the tables and the windows, landing on us and the food constantly. The bathroom was swarming with them. They were so bad we had to pay and leave before finishing our meal. I'm usually not bothered by a fly or two but this was franky extreme. I shudder to think what the kitchen standards are like.

Secondly, the food was overpriced, uninspired and bland. The menu only had sandwiches, burgers, salads and one kind of steak. We ended up both ordering burgers. It came with no sides, getting fries with your burger was +$10, onion rings +$12. Charging almost $30 for a standard burger and fries is completely delusional. The bun was soggy, the meat was unseasoned, overcooked and the toppings were bland, nowhere near fresh and falling out of the burger.

We ordered a chocolate milk, it costed almost $6 and came overwhelmingly sweet with the chocolate powder unmixed sitting at the bottom of the glass.

When we tried to collect the bill from our server and get out halfway through our meal, our server had disappeared. There was nobody at the front desk, nobody around except the the kitchen staff who completely ignored my request for assistance. He showed up after five minutes of waiting at the front desk. Although he was polite, cordial and offered to remove the sent-back chocolate milk...

Excellent steak, well cooked (to order), well grilled tasty vegetables... problem was, I ordered my steak cooked medium and my friend across the table order her $60 steak medium-rare. I can't eat asparagus, due to a food allergy, so we couldn't just switch plates. When the server brought my plate before my friend's, I said "sorry, I ordered medium... not medium-rare." But, she insisted that the order was correct, as I had ordered it, and didn't offer to cook it until it was medium or give any other option. This was probably because of the asparagus. She then brought out my friends meal and when she made a similar remark... once again, our server corrected my friend telling her she was wrong about how she wanted her steak cooked. I thought it was strange that she would have the confidence to tell two different people that what they received was what they ordered, and not her mistake. This was after waiting for thirty minutes to have our orders taken and a further sixty minutes to get served. By the way, the seven of us were the only customers in the restaurant. We had to ask repeatedly for water, had to ask several times for a second beverage (beer, wine, caesar, etc..) which we were paying for. I'm probably over explaining due to my frustration, but, given the situation, I feel it justified to vent somewhat. The end result... I enjoyed my meal, but...
