We have eaten at Longview Steakhouse three times and each time has been outstanding. The food combinations, the steaks are without a doubt, the best setting the standard by which every other steakhouse is measured. All the staff treat us and everyone around us like VIP's each time we visit. We haven't had the pleasure of enjoying the view as we live 4 hours away from the restaurant and when we arrive, it's always dark. But, the drive is worth it. We've been to Ruth's Chris, Taste of Texas, Hy's, Gotham and many other fine steakhouses and Longview Steakhouse stands head and shoulders above them all in taste, quality, customer service and value. The wait is months in advance but well worth it. When Conde Nast says one of the top 15 steakhouses on the Planet, they are not wrong. We would put them in the top 3. Looking forward to our next visit. Update - July 25, 2025 - Celebrating my eldest daughter's Birthday today at Longview Steakhouse. Our server, no our Maitre' D'hotel, Sam was outstanding catering to our every needs with flair. Truly an outstanding experience yet again. Last visit, we would have them in the top 3 category in the world however that was no where near where we'd place them. Longview Steakhouse should be #1 in the world because of consistent, truly outstanding food, service, commitment to providing a positive experience to all patrons, each and every time. Our food arrived in a timely fashion, hot, visually exciting and aroma's that tickled senses. We each had something different (6 of us) and not a speck was left on any plate. Everything was absolutely perfect. The chocolate dessert, cheesecake and creme' brulee' were all amazing. Sure, it took a while to get in to the restaurant but regardless of time, every second in the restaurant is worth it. The view is stunning, the coziness of the restaurant shines but nothing says world class like the genuineness and customer service and food that has no rival or comparison. Just amazing!! Thank you folks, the 5 hour drive was worth it :) See...
Read moreIs the food good? Yes. You can tell that a lot of care was put into crafting every dish. Taste-wise there's nothing to complain about and there's something to praise about every aspect of every dish. I wouldn't say it's mind-blowing, but it's definitely above average. The service, by the standards of a small, family-owned restaurant, was also outstanding.
So why the four star review rather than five stars? As many other reviews pointed out, obtaining a reservation at this restaurant is akin to winning the lottery where you've only won by getting through the one single phone reservation line after dozens, if not hundreds of frustrating phone call attempts, before all availability for the season is gone.
During my experience dining in, there was also plenty of seating that was empty. Thus, the restrictive and limited availability for this restaurant were more of a deliberate decision by management for reasons other than the physical limitations of the facility.
So, to summarize, the food was tasty and the service was hospitable. However, the difficulty in obtaining a reservation, especially when the restaurant books out months in advance, will remain as a frustrating experience that one associates with this restaurant. One may argue that the outstanding food and service is worth the hours of frustrations during the reservation process, but I disagree. There are many restaurants elsewhere in the country and around the world at a comparable price point with similar, if not better food and services that does not subject their patrons through the same fickle and grueling reservation process. The food itself, while good, is not Michelin-starred level good. For this reason, I do not see myself returning to this restaurant anytime soon. One can make their own judgment as to whether they are willing to invest a few hours of their life on the phone dialing and redialing along with some of their hair and brain cells for the privilege of patronizing an above average semi-fine...
Read moreWe had an amazing time at Longview Steakhouse!
The restaurant is so unassuming when you arrive. But it’s very cozy and the view is spectacular! We were not aware of that. We were pleasantly surprised and delighted when we were seated right next to the window to enjoy the mountain view as well as their own chicken coop while dining.
The food was phenomenal! They start you off with an amazing in house made bread loaf that is the perfect bite while checking out the menu. We tried the crab cake to start and it was nothing short of perfect. The sauce, the texture, everything! It is a great dish. The house made Caesar salad is also a must try!
We both had the ribeye steak as our entree and I, as a person who never orders steak at a restaurant because I don’t like it, ordered, ate, and throughly enjoyed my first restaurant steak. So much so that we booked another reservation when they opened again two days after our dinner there. We also really appreciate the relationships they have with local vendors as well and it shows in the freshness, quality and taste of their amazing cuisine. For dessert my husband chose the apple pie as his birthday dessert and it was completely homemade and had amazing flavour. Flaky, light crust with juicy, sweet cinnamon apple filling, so perfect after a great meal.
The service was superb and we wanted for nothing. Waters were constantly being filled so we never had to ask and our server was able to give us a great wine pairing for our meal.
You will have to call many times during the reservation periods they open but your persistence will pay off and you’ll get to enjoy one of the best meals out you’ve ever had!
Our absolute best compliments...
