I ordered the Ultimate burger with fries and my Dad had the BLT sandwich on whole wheat with poutine and a coffee. Both our meals were excellent.
The burger, all the toppings, and the bun, were all expertly crafted, fresh, and delicious, with the burger patty and bun tasting homemade to me. The fries were slim and crispy with just the right amount of seasoning salt, and my Dad thoroughly enjoyed the poutine.
To go, we purchased a dozen assorted donuts and pastries, including standard glazed, maple bacon, maple, Boston cream, Oreo, and a lemon Danish. We split the dozen pastries as 6 each.
I ate the lemon Danish first, which was one of the best I have ever eaten: Perfectly made flaky pastry that held together well (ie. no huge mess when eating), with a generous amount of moderately sour lemon filling the likes of which I haven’t had since the 1990’s (ie. that tart real lemon flavor I love; not the sweet yellow filling with little flavor most places use lately, especially the big grocery stores).
Considering the meal, pastries, and donuts were all excellent, I would have no problem recommending The Rolling Pin in Bow Island if you are anywhere remotely near the area. The business was moderately busy when we were there, but it has a great atmosphere, where you can hear the person you are talking to, and they can hear you.
5/5 Recommended when you are in town or in the...
Read moreMy husband and I helped our granddaughters raise money for a fundraiser and we did the cinnamon buns. We raised $800 just between my husband and I through family and coworkers and I don’t know what happened but all of our cinnamon buns were all bad. they didn’t rise and when you would fully cook them through the 15 to 20 minutes still raw 30 minutes still raw 35 minutes were better But he is a rock . When I went to go and bake mine, I mentioned it to my husband and my husband said actually I mentioned my name. He said all of his coworkers were very Disappointed in the cinnamon buns that they would never ever buy them again. I’m not sure if they had a bigger order than they expected and measuring went wrong or if it was a new baker I have no idea, but there was not One person that was happy with their cinnamon buns yesterday I went to go and bake all of my cinnamon buns and this is what they look like. And some of these are still even raw in the middle and what I mean by raw is like doughy It’s so unfortunate that this was a big disappointment that unfortunately these coworkers and family members will never...
Read moreI'm very disappointed. I used to be a regular here, but sadly, I dislike the changes. No more having the server come to your table to take your order, I mean, why put menus on the table for goodness sake? After you realize no one is coming to serve you, you head to the counter to order food. The wait was a little longer than I expected. When the food came, we had asked for chicken burger with fries, and upon looking at what was brought, there were two small chicken strips hidden by a slab of cheese. The Thai chicken wrap definitely needed work. I have never eaten so many shredded carrots in a wrap before, and I couldn't taste the Thai sauce. To top this off we had to pay before we got our meal and then was asked if we would like to tip, I hate this guilt option of having to tip before I see the level of service. At least have a front counter person willing and happy to be there instead of looking like I was taking up her time by not deciding right away. It's probably new owner growing pains. Hopefully,...
