I hope for a future Summer's there is air conditioning in this cute little overpriced Sub Shop.
I am not entirely sure it is legal to have a food business operating on hot summer days without air conditioning. As a tourist trying to escape the heat for a few minutes while I order my food (and given a wait time of 30 minutes- and then changed to 45 minutes to AN HOUR because there were so many orders coming in over the phone as the store was jam-packed with people looking for ice cream) it would be nice to be able to order without a bead of sweat dripping down my face AND pouring down my back. I am not sure if the food is even good because we decided it was not worth the wait if we had to continue sitting in the heat. I paid for my order on my credit card and was not refunded my money to my credit card as that was an inconvenience to the staff. Instead I was given cash and a bunch of attitude for causing the workers and inconvenience.
Maybe this business is better in the winter however this town flourishes in the summer on hot days so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDay trip to Wabamun Beach had us hankering for some grub and we found this place on Google Maps. Two words: Out. Standing.
We got the Large Donair with Cheese and it did not disappoint. The guy behind the counter said it was the best he's ever had. I figured...OK, small town donair. I'm from a (relatively) big city. How good could it be? Boy was he right - tonnes of meat, fresh to death veggies, and beautifully combined sweet sauce with tsatsiki (totally spelled that wrong). My dude was not lying.
Wife got a 8" individual pizza and it was made in 15 mins; also, fantastically delicious. The sauce, the dough, the meat all Waltzed across our tongues like they were Belle on the set of Beauty and the Beast. Except it would be more like Beauty and the Beauty because there was nothing beastly about it...maybe the size of the donair which was mint but I digress....We'll be back for sure.
Highly recommend if you're in town and looking for some hunger...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe pizza is certainly above average compared to most places these days. Good cheese quality and a good amount of sauce. The donairs were also quite good. I'm going to be in depth with this next bit to explain why I'm only giving 4 stars, not because i want to complain. The portioning/scooping of the ice cream could definitely use some work. Not being able to mix two flavors unless ordering the largest serving of ice cream is a not great. Neither is the lack of ice cream actually in the cone, or the lack of scoop shape that the scoops of ice cream are formed into. This will seem like a strange complaint, but a medium serving of ice cream shouldn't be the size of a large grape fruit either, it was way too much ice cream. If they made proper shaped/ size scoops of ice cream and let you combine flavors on anything over a single scoop order this would be five star review. Over all i definitely...
