It is easy to dismiss this little gem when you are just driving pass along the highway with their unassuming store front. But once you step in, it is hard to not be impressed by the views! And the setup inside is pretty nice and cozy. My Mint Condition drink is a bit over-limed and sour for my taste. My husband's drink was delicious (forgot the name), so it might have been just choice of drink. Would definitely get a different drink next time. Our food were all very delicious. Loved my salmon cakes. We had high hopes for the desserts. We ordered a slice of the Banana Bomb but was a bit underwhelmed. We actually think we would book a room in their hotel adjacent to the restaurant sometime. The rooms must have incredible views like the restaurant. And it would be quite lovely to wake up and come over to breakfast!

I eat out regularly and the Malahat Chalet is one of my go to places. So much so that I have gotten to know the staff on a personal level. I must say there clam chowder is the best I have ever had. I compare all others chowders to theirs. Either way I came in later in the evening one night and things were starting to shut down. John was not going to let that stop my culinary experience from happening. He plated up some food and it was delivered with so much pride, and within my visit, john, the head chef, and of course the fabulous server Laura all came by and had a personal chat. It is wonderful when you get great food combined with a wonderful personal experience. The first dish is the new sable fish appetizer.

You're really just paying for the view. Food is expensive and just ok. The menu says salad is included and the waitress said you can get any kind you like but they charged us $3 extra per per meal for caesar salads which felt very misleading and we didn't notice until after we paid. After the 15% tip it ended up being over $50 for two sandwiches and no extras or drinks, just the free water. The beef in the beef dip was not good quality, tasted cheap and the dip tasted very watered down. The Caesar salad was very vinegary. Pulled pork sandwich was decent, service was good, and the decor is nice but unfortunately those the view don't make it worth going for the price. I'd recommend eating in the car looking out at the view over coming. If it was half the price it would be a 4 star.

Beautiful view but food was horrible. Ordered 3 plates of vegan meal for $60 somekind of coconut curry with lots of vegetable with jasmine rice, and lots of other stuff thats what mentioned on the menu. We got gravy with 2 spoon of rice in between. That gravy was just tasting raw turmeric and yuck not cooked at all. Personally at home I use lots of turmeric and I like using it but in that food just flavor of non cooked raw turmeric was coming. They should not misguide their clients from their menu. Not able to eat paid bills and left. Really really very disappointed. Service was also just ok ok.

About a 25 min drive from Victoria you will find the unassuming Malahat Chalet on the side of the Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N. The restaurant has a down home family feel with a view that is to die for. I had the Chicken Margarita Linguini topped with a tequila lime cream sauce and strawberries salsa while my fiancé had the Chicken Cordon Bleu. I was not expecting the amazing meal we received. I have never tasted such a delicious Linguini before. Our friend had the AAA 10oz New York and the Local Mussels. Everything was beyond our expectations. Thank You for a Wonderful dinner.
