My husband and I have been enjoying a good pizza or other dishes here every Saturday late afternoon for the past several months. Occasionally joined by other couples. Always enjoyed ourselves and had a good meal. Until tonight. We arrived shortly before 5 and pleasantly waited for a booth to come available. It took 35 minutes to get the meals. Not a big deal as we were visiting. We ate. We were given our bills at 6:30 Then 15 minutes later the owner came up, said I’ll clear your glasses for you, “we’ve got a line up at the door.” We have never been “kicked out” of a restaurant in our lives!!!! If he’d asked we would have completely understood, but to be told to move along is quite something. He was rude and disrespectful to us and to our guests. There were other parties that were there when we arrived and they weren’t asked to leave. Makes us wonder if the difference was that we weren’t buying alcohol? Complete lack of people skills. In hospitality every customer matters and should be treated as your bread and butter. Damage done. Too bad the owner has the personality of a gnat.
Reply to owner: Your response was just as I anticipated. Patronizing and condescending like all of your replies to negative feedback. First off..there’s no way you heard what or how we were spoken to. 15 minutes after our bill (which was delivered without us asking for it) and settled, Les came over and said “here let me clear these glasses for you” and didn’t even wait for a response before reaching across and gathering the glasses. The other gentleman in our group asked if he was short of glasses and Les’s response as he stepped away was “no there’s a line up at the door”. Clearly we were being ushered out. Just a heads up. Expect to have your time in the restaurant directed by the ownership not by how you’d like to...
Read moreA group of us for years used to frequent another eating/drinking establishment in Blind Bay every Wednesday night. We decided to give Ranchers a go as they had just opened. It was so good we have never been back to the other establishment. The food is delicious, never had a bad meal and I think I've almost had everything on the menu. They have a small but good selection of craft beers. This is something that has been lacking in the Bay. Service is excellent and all the staff are efficient and super friendly. The place also has a great ambience and there is a group of regulars which gives it a neighbourhood pub feel. It's also a great place to watch sports. The owner is an Oilers fan, so when the Oilers are playing the game will be on (unfortunately 😉). Myself and some friends watch International and European soccer there. It's great for the noon kick offs. They also sell loaves of bread made on the premises....delicious! You can also get sodastream cartridges refilled. This type of establishment, which is open year round, is just what Blind Bay needed. Thanks Les and Rachel for opening Ranchers...
Read moreI was working late tonight and I thought I would like pizza..So rather than order in Salmon Arm I decided to give Ranchers a try. I stopped in and ordered a large pizza and I would come back to pick it up. I was told 30 minutes by a very friendly hostess. It was hot and ready when I returned. I took it home placed it on my stove top and took my dog out for a much needed walk. Upon returning I opened the box and I had to recut the pizza and it was stuck to paper underneath and the bottom of the box was soaked thru. Took my first piece and all the toppings slid off the dough as I tried to eat it. One piece of greasy pizza required 2 napkins!! Very disappointed in my $33 pizza. I don't think I'll be by for pizza any time soon! It's too bad I would love to support local here in Blind Bay. ...
