Original Udder Guys Ice Cream and Candy — Restaurant in Area D (Cowichan Bay)

By far the best ice cream I've ever tasted. Vanilla Bean and Bailey's and coffee are my favorites. I've seen complaints on here about the price, but the best ingredients cost money. They don't cheap out on anything, and its still more than worth the price. I've eaten the so-called 'best' ice cream all over the world, including Canmore in Alberta and in Florence Italy, and I've never had ice cream better than Udder Guys The owner is a great guy, he treats customers the way they should be. My only complaint was the reduced hours because of Covid. I still try to ride my motorcycle from Victoria to Cow Bay as often as I can just for ice cream. Don't listen to the naysayers, this ice cream is the best.

Post edit Bailey's and Cream is now called Whiskey Cream, probably for copyright reasons. And, after many, many years, the ownership has been transferred, but the new owners spent 6 months with the original owner, learning his recipes and techniques. It's still the best ice cream I've ever eaten.

UDDERLY DELICIOUS--WORTH THE TREAT + THE DRIVE (unlike Sassy's in Victoria...CAVEAT EMPTOR!) HAD BEEN WELL-OVERDUE TO RE-VISIT COWICHAN BAY AREA AND LONGER VISIT SHORT, CHECKING OUT THE UDDER GUYS ICE CREAM WAS MORE THAN A WELCOME BREAK TO THIS AFTERNOON'S TOUR DURING COVID. WAS DEFINITELY MADE TO FEEL WELCOME BEING PROMPTLY GREETED (BY THE OWNER AS IT TURNED OUT...). FOLLOWING A WELL-REHEARSED BUT THOUGHTFUL SUMMARY OF THE HOMEMADE ICE CREAM PRODUCT LINE, MADE THE NEAR FATAL MISTAKE OF ACCEPTING A SAMPLING OFFER OF THE RUM + RAISIN ICE CREAM. We came upon this place by chance and it turned out to be the highlight of my day. Great ice cream. As other reviewers pointed out, the ice cream is made from scratch with very few core ingredients and none of the additives found in more mainstream offerings. The owner was very friendly and shared his techniques when I picked his brain - a true artist and ice cream purist. I found the fruit flavors most impressive - local blackberry, strawberry, lemon lavender and surprisingly - Alphonso mango (not the Canned stuff - the owner get crates shipped directly).
