A&W Canada — Restaurant in Area H (North Oyster / Diamond)

I had an extremely terrible experience, possibly the greatest insult I have ever encountered in a restaurant. What surprised me even more was that this kind of rude and uncivilized behavior came from a server in Canada, a supposedly civilized country. I didn't do anything inappropriate; I simply asked if I could dine at the restaurant and have a can of beer. If not, I would have taken the food to go. However, I was met with an unbelievably rude response. That tall and burly white woman told me to get out of the restaurant immediately. My goodness! What terrible thing did I do to deserve such a despicable and coarse remark without any explanation? These incidents happened right in front of my family, including my two underage children. I didn’t want to argue with her, so I left the restaurant and asked my wife to wait for the food to be prepared and then bring it back to the hotel. Don't waste your money.

This used to be a decent location, but no more. Quality slipping steadily - burgers thrown haphazardly together, long LONG drive through waits, etc. This morning I grabbed a breakfast sandwich on my way to Nanaimo. It. Was. REVOLTING! Stone cold. Not the type of cold when been left a bit too long while waiting for other food to cook - I'm talking refrigerated cold. Stale and dry. It didn't cool on my way as was in my hand less than a minute after leaving the drive through. Sort of suspect yesterday left over that someone tried - extremely unsuccessfully - to reheat. Not edible - was discarded and went to another chain drive through - at least hot and fresh. This location also doesn't bother with the latest promotions - no frozen root beer or coffee drinks. Seems a bit like they are sinking and cutting corners/expenses wherever they can. If this is all they can do, suggest they close - absolutely not doing the brand...

I LOVE A & W …..usually! I just drove thru to get something to eat, to eat while I drive. First of all, I’ve grown used to having to ASK specifically for salt, ketchup and napkins. So I did. After I drove away, I realized I had no straw for my drink! It’s always come automatically. Apparently I have to ask for a straw now too. Anyways I ended up having to pull over up the road to drink my drink, when I realized it was not at ALL like the normally awesome Diet Root Beer. Obviously running out of the syrup that makes root beer! The fries were perfect extra crispy. It took way longer than usual in the drive thru!! And there were a number of workers running in many directions. But I was not acknowledged for at least 5 minutes. Poor management? New workers! I don’t normally complain but this was plain ridiculous! They will be losing customers if something doesn’t change. I’m a loyal A & W fan for years, so I may give them another chance, others...
