Very popular pub and microbrewery in the heart of tourist town Baie St-Paul
This is our 3rd time visiting the small yet charming town of Baie-St-Paul, and only the very first time able to dine at this restaurant. That’s how popular it is. There is almost always a long line waiting to get seated. In reality the line moves pretty fast, and they can send you a text when your table is ready, very convenient!
The food and drinks were surprisingly good, for a bar. I ordered the legendary half chicken, kids had the fish and chips and husband had the smoke meat sandwich, and we shared the charcuterie board, everything was delicious! There was a very decent selection of local beers and cocktails too.
Staff was perfectly bilingual, to my pleasant surprise, and very courteous. She paid extra attention to fill out water, asking for more drinks or napkins, even brought wet towels for me because I had the chicken. I was thoroughly impressed.
The cute pub is located right at the corner of 2 major streets in the heart of Baie-St-Paul, you cannot miss it! Highly recommend!

Read moreWas looking for a restaurant in the area and saw a lineup so I thought it would be a good place. We were 6 and they forgot to bring a couple of entrées and needed the remind the busy waitress a couple of times (not a big of a deal for me by the way but some people may mind it). I had the potatoes/leek soup and it was delicious but the meal enjoyment stopped here.
I ordered a poutine and it was the worst I've ever eaten in Quebec: the plate was cold, the cheese was half frozen (and not melted) and the brown sauce had a strange sour taste to it. I've had other poutine sauces that tasted and smelled 400 times better. I was not the only one ordering poutine and nobody touched their plate after a couple of bites. It was simply NOT good (being polite here not to say "disgusting").
The smoked meat sandwich was OKAY but a bite size.... A couple of bites and it was gone. Very disappointing!
The portions were overall very small for the price we paid. Drinks were OK!
If you're looking for a bite, DON'T COME to this place. If you want a drink, it is...

So much waste!! Ketchup and mayo come in single serve packets; coleslaw and other sauces come in little plastic containers. Its 2020...time to move on from this approach.
Food: the goat burger was pretty uninspiring...just the thinnest possible slice of local cheese, couldn't taste the garlic/mint mayo, and the meat patty tasted like it was mass produced and previously frozen.
Also for my vegan friend there were virtually no options on the menu (just fries??).
Service: adequate but not especially attentive or friendly.
Beer: good selection but disappointing that the tasting flights come only in 2 predetermined groups of four, with no option to substitute.
All this said it's a nice place and does great business...but it feels like as the local microbrewery/gastropub they don't really have to try very hard, and thus don't. If they built more flex into their menus, eliminates the single use plastics and tried a little harder with the food, this place...
