I joined Bancroft Ridge in the spring of 2023 and can honestly say I am very impressed with how the course has improved throughout the season. The maintenance staff did a fantastic job getting the course in great condition by early summer, after a very challenging winter and spring. And the staff here are great. They do a super job every day and are friendly and always very accommodating.
As for the complainers, may I suggest you play some GTA courses or other clubs in Canada and the U.S. where they have course marshals patrolling the fairways all day, and see how quick they usher you out into the parking lot and into your car if you're not following the club rules and are not using proper golf etiquette. On many occasions I've seen people being escorted off courses for not following club rules, for slow play, etc. It's not rocket science, but it seems that some people figure that the club rules don't apply to them.
Further to that, the only complaint I have is not with Bancroft Ridge, nor the owner or staff (who by the way, as I mentioned previously, have treated me, my friends, and my family extremely well) but with the "golfers" who have no idea how to fix a ball mark or replace a divot. And it's not just on this course, it's every course that I play or have played. And I've been fortunate enough to have played many of the best golf courses in Ontario. It's a problem every course faces. That's not the club owners fault, but the fault of so called golfers who feel an entitlement to do whatever they want out there, without really knowing golf and practicing good golf etiquette. Fix your ball marks on the greens and replace your divots in the fairways. That's basic golf etiquette.
So much for my rant on golf etiquette, now back to the course... The front nine is where you need to take advantage and score well, because the back nine is longer and tighter, where birdies and pars are harder to come by.
Bancroft Ridge is a real challenge from whatever tee blocks you want to play from. If you know and appreciate golf, you'll...
Read moreOn July 22nd I called the course to book a tee time of 16 people (four tee times) booked for the afternoon of July 25th. When I called on July 22nd I was called back by Ben stating they would be sending me an email to pre pay for the tee times due to the group size (an email in which I never received and found quite weird to prepay for a round). I called the course on the morning of July 25th to confirm there was power due to the storm, and that our tee times were still booked. After speaking with the group we decided that we were not going to be providing business to the course after the way we were spoken to by Nick during the initial phone call. When I called a second time to cancel, Nick proceeded to raise his voice at me and after I ended the phone call I received a message to my personal phone from Nick (see attachment).
We are extremely disappointed with the treatment we received from the manager Nick. From the start, he was condescending and spoke down to us as if we were doing something wrong by simply wanting to golf there. On the phone, he was verbally aggressive, even going so far as to say he was “doing us a favour by allowing us to golf/book tee times because we weren’t members” — completely unprofessional and unnecessary.
To make matters worse, he told us he would be at the first hole while we all teed off and that he would be “checking all our bags for alcohol,” and that it is typical that he does this, which felt more like a threat than a reminder of course rules. Golf is meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience, not one where you feel monitored and disrespected. We won’t be returning, and I would caution others to think twice before...
Read moreWhere do I begin. We had booked 2 foursomes to tee of at 11am for a bachelor party. We showed up and stupidly one of our group members opened a beer in the parking lot, this individual was not even golfing. The owner, nick, came out and began lecturing the entire group and talking down to us and being totally arrogant. We understood the owners concerns, got rid the of beer including a cooler that one of our group members had. I for one had no outside beer with me along with 7 of our other golfers. It was explained to the group that no outside beer was allowed, we understood and fully complied and apologized. The owner, nick, then began to say that he wouldn’t feel comfortable with us golfing, accusing of people doing crazy things like drugs, implying we were going to do drugs?
He subsequently painted us with a brush of being nothing but bad because of issues that had last week with a bachelor party.
Nicks father came out and for 10 minutes tried calming him down, kept telling him to go inside. Nicks father was understandable, we apologized to him and nicks father wanted us to golf.
Nick then came back out of the clubhouse, picked an argument with one of our members to the point we turned around and left. He was completely unprofessional, rude, even calling one of our members a dork.
Customer service is not present based by the owners behaviour.
In response to the owners response: No one was drinking and driving, the individual that opened a beer in the parking lot was not driving, not operating a golf cart, and was not golfing. Be better before making false allegations publicly to try...
