Came across this restaurant through a social media feed. Never heard of it before, so wife and I decided to check it out. So glad we did! First, the food. While the menu is not extensive, what they do here, they do exceptionally well. Can highly recommend the wonton nachos, wings and fries. Not your ordinary pub food, it’s more of a gastropub style. The key is that they make everything, including sauces, in-house. The nachos were delicate and crispy and so flavorful. The wings were cooked to perfection, not greasy at all, and the jalapeño dipping sauce (just one of many to choose from) was excellent, without being too spicy. The fries were some some of the best we’ve ever eaten (and we’ve eaten a LOT of fries over the years). The only knock I’ll give, is that there wasn’t any fish on the menu when we were there - though I’ve read they offer delicious fish dishes on occasion. Perhaps when they get more established, fish will have a permanent place on the menu. The restaurant itself has a nice ambience to it, being tastefully decorated with comfortable seating and appropriate lighting. Live entertainment is offered and we were treated to a wonderful performance while we ate. Finally the staff and service. As customers, we couldn’t ask for any better. So attentive to our needs and requests, and all done with a super friendly demeanor. We simply could not be happier with the service we received. Jessica, the owner, is a very warm, friendly individual, who clearly has a passion for what she does, and she does it so well. All the pieces are in place to make Arbour a real local success story, and I wish them every success as they build their clientele...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I ventured to Arbour a few nights ago in hopes for a good meal and a good time.
Firstly, the atmosphere was lovely and the decor was superb. This restaurant is unique from anything else in the area, as it seemed quite classy and more of a fancy restaurant. The decor was very cute. The glasses were nice and the plates/bowls were unique and fun.
The food however was just okay for the price. We paid $17 for the oven roasted chicken burger meal. The burger was really small, which is fine if it's delicious, the thing was that it was not. The burger itself was good other than the chicken, which was pretty awful. It was extremely rubbery and plain. The fries however, were absolutely delicious, 10/10 level amazing. They were light, fluffy, and tender on the inside and golden brown and crispy on the outside, all while being seasoned to perfection. The amount of fries was generous. The flatbread meat lovers pizza was pretty good! The bread and sauce were delicious, the cheese and meats were a little bit too overpowering though, there was definitely too much cheese and meat on the pizza, however I understand it is a meat lovers, so while it's not my style, it will definitely be good for others! The brownie for dessert was divine. It tasted like real cocoa which is always lovely. My only complaint is that the brownie wasn't heated very much.
The service was great. Our waitress was attentive, and very kind!
Overall, Arbour is definitely worth a visit especially if you're in the area and you're in the mood for a classy restaurant. However I can only give 3 stars due to the rubbery chicken and the high prices for what...
Read moreOur first visit to Arbour was wonderful. It's beautifully decorated and hard to believe it was once a Robin's.
Then there's the cocktails -- a great menu and I think I picked the best of the lot. Rockin' on the Watermelon might just be the best cocktail I've ever had. And it looked so lovely in the glass it was served in. I encouraged others around the table to order one and they agreed it was delicious. I'm hoping to get the recipe so I can replicate it at home!!
I ordered the dis and dat platter because I was indecisive and it did not disappoint. The fries were deadly and the wings were perfectly crispy, just as I like them. The two touton burgers were delicious, especially the beef with blueberry jam. We started off with the wonton nachos and those didn't last long!
It was a full house and a bit short-staffed at times (as everywhere seems to be), but our servers were lovely. Even as the place filled up and people waited for tables, they insisted we take our time and not rush at all. We would have loved to stay for the live music, as the singer was setting up as we ate, but we had to head back to St. John's as we had tickets for a show. We'll be back, however. Always happy to support a fellow resident of Churchill Falls and...
