Could not have asked for a better host. Ton was fantastic, and really super nice. The cafe is perfect for a really tasty and filling breakfast before hitting the trails. The muffins and coffee to go are great if you can't wait for breakfast (although I just recommend both). The cabins and bathroom amenities were spacious, exceedingly clean, and still private enough that you don't feel ontop of your neighbours. And two paws up from our feline companion that couldn't get enough of her cabin life. She probably spent more time on the ladder to/and in the annex than anywhere else in the cabin. I would 100% recommend to everyone. This is our only place to stay in Cape Breton now.

A friend recommended we stop and try the PANNENKOEK or Dutch pancakes, very similar to Yorkshire pudding, but much sweeter, served with icing sugar, fresh fruit and a lovely helping of whipped cream on top. It was heavenly! Caroline and I shared a 12” pancake and I’m ever so slightly regretful that I had to share. Along with the congenial host, the Dancing Moose Cafe made a wonderful stop along the Cabot Trail, and we will be sure to visit again. Update: 2022-08-26 Our second visit. The food and service were fantastic, and I enjoyed every mouthful of the pancakes. I'm looking forward to visit next year.

We stayed in one of the cabins overnight and could not recommend it more. It’s extremely cozy and rustic but with all the amenities you might want. We appreciated the space heater for our mid October stay. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. We saw the most beautiful sunrise over the beach in the morning. We saw seal heads poking out of the ocean! It was the perfect end to our trip. Breakfast at the cafe was absolutely delicious. We loved the moose art from customers all over the walls. Overall this place is definitely worth a visit and we will certainly be back when we get back to the area.

The food is good but the customer service is the worst. No pleasantries or coming around to see if you want anything else. They take your order, bring your food and that's it. We wanted to have coffee and maybe dessert, but no one came around to ask. It's not as if they were busy either. There were 2 tables occupied. I tried to ask about the chickens they have on the property but our server didn't want to talk. I barely got a grunt in response. I will not be going back. There are plenty of other cafes around that would be happy to get my business.

Edit: I just read the other reviews here. Almost all of them say how friendly the staff were. The three times I've been there (once for tea after Dorian, once when we were turned away because they were full, and once when we finally went there to eat) I've dealt with the same older woman who has the personality of a limp dishrag. Maybe she's the only one that is unfriendly. Maybe the other staff are nice although I didn't see other staff there other than the cook who gave us a smile. (the only one we got) I've found it to be true that eateries that cater to people passing through are not known to be overly solicitous. Maybe the people who found the staff friendly were also staying at the cabins on site and so were more likely to get treated well. I don't know. I just know that I won't be going back because I like people to be friendly especially when I'm giving...

We stopped here for Breakfast on our departure day from Cape Breton and the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and the food was good.

However, my experience was ruined by the waitress we had. When placing my order I simply asked if it would be possible to trade the little assorted dish of fruit that came with what I ordered or an additional piece of toast instead. Well... that was NOT an acceptable option to our waitress and she proceeded to rudely decline that possibility, and then continued to make fun of me for it the rest of our time there. When our food was delivered to our table, she took the little bowl of fruit, and set it at the opposite side of the table from me and said "Look now it's not even close to you. Hope that makes you feel better." in a very rude tone.

When placing my original order, I was very polite when I asked if I could swap the bowl of fruit for an extra piece of toast, so the fact that she was so rude to me for no reason for the rest of the time I was there was uncalled for.

I will be visiting Cape Breton again, but I will not be going back to the...

We unfortunately only had time to stay one night in this incredible place, and despite the weather being poor, we had one of the best nights of our trip. The cabin we stayed in was comfortable and cosy, the bathroom was clean, but the real delight was being able to have a bbq and a campfire on site. Our thanks go to the owner who was kind enough to help us get the damp logs going!

A short walk from the cafe finds you on the beach which has spectacular views. You are free to walk around or have a fire down there. We couldn't because of the weather but we would have been down there like a shot if we could!

The cafe is great too, with plenty of delicious choices on the menu. Well worth a stop even if you are just passing through.

Recommended if you want something a bit different. Logs for the fire are provided for a small fee. There's a small general store not far away, otherwise it's a trek to get to another store. You might want to stock up in Baddeck...
