Restaurant La Sagouine — Restaurant in Bouctouche

8/20/2024 – Supper at La Sagouine Restaurant, Bouctouche, New Brunswick La Sagouine has a diverse but not overly large menu. I had the appetizer-sized seafood crepes and a salad. My husband had the seafood crepes dinner served with rice, vegetables and a roll. Everything was excellent. Nice homey, clean and bright atmosphere and excellent service. Rate 5 out of 5. Price included a bottle of wine. Late Lunch on 8/21 You can never get too much of a great thing. We were so impressed with La Sagouine that we returned the next day to share lunch with our friends, as last night’s food was perfect. I had two of the appetizer-sized crepes, one of my friends had the had the seafood chowder along with the appetizer sized crepe and a salad, her husband had the shrimp dinner and my husband had the seafood chowder as well.. The shrimp was lightly breaded and perfect. The seafood chowder, served with a large homemade roll was the hands down the best chowder that we have had on our entire trip to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Bar none the worst service we’ve had in years. The patio was nice, prices were right, and food was ok but all of it was over shadowed by the terrible service. We sat down and my wife had time to go to the pharmacy across the street and buy a few things and come back before our drink order was taken. Two other tables sat down after us and ordered after us and both got their food before I got my beer! I wish I was making g this up. 30 minutes from the time we sat down until I got my beer. And when I got my beer, it wasn’t even full (photo included). The food also took a long time. After 20 minutes the server explained it was because the clam pie took 20 minutes to make… but it was one slice so did they have to bake the whole pie? And if so maybe something that should be mentioned upon ordering? Food came and we had no utensils. Server was apologetic about that at least. Saved from a one-star review due to the decent prices and nice patio but the service really really detracted from what otherwise would have been a nice experience. As for the food itself, lobster roll was mediocre, club sandwich was really really good as was the clam lie but the mashed potatoes were as bland...

Stopped for supper on the patio. Beautiful day and a nice treat. Had a great meal. One had seafood chowder, another chicken Cesar and me well I had the club and fries!! Great and friendly wait staff kept checking up on us to make sure all was good. As far as covid protocols go, there were quite a few not wearing masks including staff but our party of three did before and after our meals and we were back in our vehicle. Hey province went green so "technically" it's up to each individual and business to mask or not. In my opinion, it's up to us as individuals to mask even when not required by businesses and most certainly if the businesses require it, we could all still get and pass on covid or the variant, wearing a mask is such an easy and simple way to protect each other for...
