I wanted to like this place but it was not to be. After a 10 minute wait in line we were seated at a 2 person table by the cash. The placement was not ideal but we consoled ourselves in the erroneous belief that at least we wouldn't be forgotten. Evidently we assumed too much! We sat there for 15 minutes before being acknowledged (reviews had listed friendliness?!) and only then were we finally offered coffees. After the 10 minutes in line on a humid day and 15 minute table wait we were parched! Our 2 waters, orange juice and coffees were to be the only items we got in a ?timely? fashion. It wasn't until another couple, seated 10 minutes after us, received their meals that I was bold enough to inquire if there might be a problem with our order of 1 regular breakfast and one french toast. "No" said our waitress (and not the least bit apologetically) "you're next" - glossing over the obvious unfairness When further pressed for an explanation we were somewhat smugly told that "they were in the section that had the other waitress" meaning I guess, - the professional one,. It appeared to me the other waitress had more tables and still manged to respond to her customers quickly and efficiently - which spoke volumes about ours. I will mention now that a table of 4 beside us had the exact same issue and I once again heard our waitress offer up some lame excuse with the pat response that "your order was next" (I think she uses that line a lot).. One would think food orders were given to the kitchen in...well...order?. Breakfast itself was adequate although as it was now closer to noon and since we got there at 11 my partner joked that he wished he had ordered the hot hamburger. as it was closer to lunch than the late brunch we went out for. As an aside, the decor was bland. Yellow walls with odd pictures does nothing for the ambiance. Less would be more in that case. When my query about the use of butter was met with the standard admission of margarine. I was told I could order the toast dry and put on my own butter but that almost always means cold toast:/. I'm disappointed that this has become the standard of the affordable breakfast. I told her would gladly pay a bit more to enjoy real butter on my toast but that suggestion fell on deaf ears. I guess it's working for them so she couldn't care less. Personally I think it's one of those places that seems busier than it should be due to its small size. It also seems to serve an area lacking a good breakfast spot which sadly, for me, still is. We get breakfast out a few times a week so we will keep looking for a place that treats their customers like they actually care and where the service is fair and if not timely - at least suitably sympathetic. If you want a cheap breakfast with margarine and a possible long wait this is the place for you but I will keep looking and if have to drive another mile or spend a few dollars more I would gladly do so rather than be made to feel like a number in a place that lets some skip the queue . Oh and it would have been nice if she had asked how our meals were once we finally got them but i guess she didn't want to know what we thought at that point. It seemed she would rather spend her time conversing with the other waitress.. I wish them luck with that and as a tip - get a bus person. There's just no excuse to not have one. Don't...
Read moreI have always enjoyed the breakfasts here whenever I come to Brantford. The hours are unfortunately unreliable and the staff are rude.
I tried to go here twice over the holidays, and on both occasions the online information indicated they were open until 2pm. The first time we got there and it was locked and had one sign indicating they closed at 1 and another saying they closed at 11. Came again the next day, earlier this time. It was about 1130am when we arrived. The doors were locked but there were many people eating inside. I knocked at the door and caught the attention of a waitress. She saw me, conferred with her colleague, and opened the door for us. She said they were going to close early because they felt like it but they'd serve us.
We sat down and the waitress who served us was immediately rude and trying to rush us. I was a bit taken aback when she told us to hurry up because it was new years eve (1130 am give me a break!). Anyways after a couple minutes I ordered and she said they were out of hollandaise and so I got a different scramble. I tried to ask for sunny side up eggs instead of scrambled, not a difficult substitution to make. She basically scoffed and then raised her voice saying no scrambled eggs was all they would do. I just threw up my hands and said whatever.
The food was good but the service was absolutely unacceptable. I've rarely been treated so rudely at a restaurant and I certainly did nothing wrong to warrant it. People like that should not be working as servers. I'll probably never return and will advise everyone to look elsewhere for breakfast. A real shame that one terribly rude waitress had to go out of her way to ruin my meal because I had been enjoying this place for...
Read moreWent for breakfast for the first and also unfortunately the last time this morning. We sat for a few mins before a server gave us menus, didn’t take our drink order at that time but came back 10 mins later and took our drink order and brought our coffees in a timely manner but still hadn’t taken our food order. When she came back over 15 mins later I was able to ask for milk for the then cold coffee and she took our food order, at that time we found out that one they were out of a major item so we needed a min to choose something else and told her what by the time she came back with the milk we would know what we wanted. After a few mins she came back and we ordered, we weren’t asked how we wanted our eggs or what kind of toast was wanted so I made sure I specified what I wanted however my daughter didn’t want to bother her so she was going to take what was given however we both did say we wanted the tots instead of home fries. The server came back over 10 mins later and asked how my daughter wanted her eggs, and about 20 mins later we had our food and it wasn’t how we ordered it, we had the potatoes instead of the tots we asked for. The server said she would have it all remade but we were there for so long already that we just took what was given to us. Neither one of us ate very much because we were so disappointed so we asked for a box to take it home. Almost $60 for a breakfast that took almost 2 hrs from start to finish and it wasn’t even what...
