I am not one to leave a negative review, but after multiple negative experiences I hope they find it constructive. I have 0 complaints with the food- always been good, but entirely the service/policies. Half the time I have called and ordered take out no problem, the other half they tell me they don't do it as they cannot guarantee food quality, I never know what the policy is that day so I've stopped ordering. I understand being concerned about quality issue but then either don't do it at all or do it and give disclaimers, you're turning away customers that the previous establishment provided for. Community members have been given discount cards which I never paid attention to and one day asked the server what the perks were (something about wine that is really nothing at all) and commented to the guest I was with "People must be disappointed, Hoodoos gave 10% ", to which I was told "we didn't really want to give anything, just the community was complaining too much". On another occasion a group of about 8 of us went around 2/3pm and inquired about drink specials or happy hour to which we were told "We're not that kind of discount establishment". Having a happy hour does not lower your restaurants status, perhaps you should consider introducing one to get people in the door as targeting a specific demographic does not seem to be working, or try being open for breakfast as golf starts early. Yesterday a group of 10 went for a birthday lunch, majority of the table does/has worked in the service industry and therefor are super understanding, but likely had our last visit. The establishment was dead and guests weren't greeted for 20 mins so they re-sat themselves elsewhere/we had to come inside and grab our drinks (already made and server talking) from the bar ourselves/ order 2 drinks at once because we rarely seen our server/tap drinks sometimes poured inches from the top & filled with ice/having to come inside to pay when asked for the bill. Perhaps the server was new but this place is aiming to be high end while consistently delivering sub par service. Only convenient option nearby so hoping they manage to turn things around...

I wanted to also recommend this place like so many others but yesterday the wait on everything was off the charts. 1st to see anyone out on the patio took forever and then to just get the beer to arrive was so very long and even after the 1st wait on a beer and then again after being told that the Pilsner could not be changed cause the manager was setting up for music later and the new bartender did not know how. And... NO music out on patio! The patio set up is good to shield out the sun etc but with some music playing, waiting so very long would not have been noticed as much. Something to consider, yes? Read moreThis is my first restaurant review ever. My friend drives once a year from Langley to have dinner with me, and he always has steak. I looked at other reviews and it was not looking good, lonly one steak option, but previous meals when HooDoos were all very good. We had a very good caesar salad w/salmon (I should have ordered the salmon dinner) but decided on the schnitzel special, overcooked & dry, some sort of sauce packed w/sugar and sick sweet obviously jarred red cabbage. My friend's steak & vegetables laid in a bed of greasy mess. I hate reviews (like from M&M's) where people refer to some as dog food, but frankly, I took 90% of my schnitzel home w/my friends veggies, but will feed it to my dogs, even though I love them. Our annual dinner was very bad. Unfortunately our waiter tip suffered and it was not his fault, but we could not pay over $100 for the stuff that was plated.
