We are members and regular weekend visitors of Terra Cotta Conservation area. We are also frequent shoppers (mainly in summer) at the cozy Terra Cotta Country store, from about 2002. We were always happy with the service, and selection of ice creams, yogurts and some small boutique items... until lately. Not sure why, and the selection of ice creams is now scarce, and instead the store became very crowded with lots many displays of different souvenirs and knickknacks, to the point, only few people can get inside, and barely move around. This overcrowding is not only safety hazard, but also a fire hazard. Today, after our regular weekend hike trough Terra Cotta conservation area, we stopped again in the store for a nice treat of ice cream and yogurt. The service in the store was extremely slow, because the lady owner spent majority of her time standing around and in a way, and chatting with couple of their customers. At the end, after some time we got what we asked for, and we ate it outside, on the bench under the trees. Considering, that our dogs ate majority of our yogurt, I went back in, to buy a new one just for myself. Again, the same situation. the lady owner stood in the doorway, chatting with one of her leaving customers, and not enabling me to get in. When she finally did so, she went to chat with another customers, and her husband was serving other customers, who decided to stay around, and block the only space to get tot he ice cream counter. When the conservation with customers, standing by the cash register ended, I believed, now I will be able to ask for my yogurt. But, that did not happen. I received only a glance from lady owner, before she moved to start conversation with , another couple of customers, browsing through the display. At this point, the male owner was no where to be seen.. Therefore, after a long time of no service, I felt. As I mentioned before, we bring our ice-cream business to this store for many years. Until today, we also religiously promoted not only those beautiful hikes in Terra Cotta area, and Terra Cotta stunning restaurant, we also promoted this little charming Country Store. After today, I do not feel so comfortable doing so. If nothing else, i would at least expect some kind apology, for the intentional or not ignorance of her customers. Good luck to...
Read moreWhat a wonderful and heart-warming experience we have every time we visit the Terra Cotta Country Store. We were on a drive with our family this past Mother's Day to purchase a bicycle at another local business (for my beautiful wife) when we decided to stop in to the store for ice cream as a treat. Not only were we treated like family but so was every other customer that arrived during our visit. We were also delighted to see that the store is now offering freshly baked treats to go along with their hot coffee and cider. In this day of the big-box stores where people are rushed and no customer service can be found, the Terra Cotta Country Store is a great place for retreat on a weekend where you can slow down and enjoy the better things in life like family...
Read moreTerra Cotta Country Store is a quaint family-run store with incredibly high quality food.
We tried their ice cream as well as their fig and brie croissants. The croissants very amazing; they were fresh with a well balanced flavour of both the cheese and the fig. Next, for ice cream we got the Salty Caramel and the Raspberry Bugaboo. The Salty Caramel was creamy and rich in flavour- it’s one of the best salted caramel ice creams I’ve had! The Bugaboo tasted more like a sorbet but it was definitely a unique flavour and was very refreshing too.
There are a few benches on-site where you can sit otherwise it’s mainly take out for now. Overall, we throughly enjoyed the food and the vibe. This place is a hidden gem and is definitely...
