Cafe Review: Friends Cafe Atmosphere: Friends Cafe boasts a charming ambiance with its warm lighting, comfortable seating, and rustic decor. Whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying some alone time with a book, the atmosphere invites relaxation and contentment. Soft background music adds to the cozy vibe, making it an ideal spot for unwinding. Food: The menu at Friends Cafe offers a delightful selection of sandwiches, quesadillas, coffee, tea, cakes, and savory goods. Each dish is crafted with care, using fresh ingredients that burst with flavor. The sandwiches are generously filled and grilled to perfection, while the quesadillas are a fusion of savory goodness and melted cheese. Pair your meal with a fragrant cup of coffee or a soothing pot of tea, and don't forget to save room for dessert! The cakes are decadent, and the savory goods provide the perfect savory-sweet balance also everything is made in house! Service: The staff at Friends Cafe are attentive and friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. Whether you have dietary restrictions or special requests, they are accommodating and eager to ensure your dining experience is enjoyable. Orders are promptly taken and delivered with a smile, and the staff is knowledgeable about the menu, ready to offer recommendations if needed. Overall, the service at Friends Cafe is exemplary, enhancing the overall dining experience. Overall Experience: Friends Cafe is a gem of a cafe, offering a cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and excellent service. Whether you're popping in for a quick bite or settling in for a leisurely afternoon, this cafe exceeds expectations in every aspect. It's the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and indulge in simple pleasures. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a haven of comfort and culinary delight.

A very cozy cafe located in the heart of a quiet residential area. The location of this place is a huge plus, as it’s very close to Nosehill Park, making it an ideal place to stop in after a long walk. The fireplace is an excellent touch, making it even cozier in the winter. The soup and sandwich were both pretty good, and the matcha latte is definitely worth a try. I’d argue that the matcha latte is much better than the one at Starbucks (the oversized ceramic mug really elevates the experience). Service was very friendly, albeit a little slow which is understandable as it can get fairly busy. Something I would like to see changed is the pricing structure of the food though. I feel that sandwich and soup combination was a little on the expensive side, especially for the half sandwich, which was much smaller than I anticipated. Another minor issue I have: the sinks in the washroom are unusually low. As someone who stands a little over 5’, it was strange having to reach down to use the sink.

There are not a lot of small locally owned cafes in the NW, but maybe it's for a good reason if the quality of the food and experience is subpar like this location. The service was very slow despite only having a small order, and the flat white came lukewarm. We paid $14.00 for the wrap and it was sized like it was for an infant. The wrap was also dripping with liquid, because the mushrooms were not properly caramelized before it was pressed in the panini press. This caused the mushrooms to steam and release all the liquid they had and it was dripping everywhere while it was being eaten. The atmosphere of location is top notch, but this is like pearls on swine, when the food and drink quality is masked by the location. You might feel good and like the atmosphere, but the food has small portions, questionable quality, and slow service. I would not visit it again.

I spent a lot of time picking up food at Friends when I moved to Edgemont as a teenager. Margie, the owner was so hands on and really perfected the menu and her products. I had my favorites that were always hearty and large sized. I no longer live in Calgary but have returned when I’m in the area a few times since there has been a new owner. I just happened to be in the area and wanted to pick up a few of my favorites, craving those chunky, hearty galaxy squares confetti square and a few muffins. I really wish the new owner had not changed the portion sizes and not changed a thing. The menu is the same but the experience is totally different. There was a lot of chaos happening in the front and the employee who took my order took a large paper bag and just threw everything in it. He didn’t take any time to put the muffins in their own bag. He squeezed the top of the bag together and handed it to me like it was a bag of dirt. The cashier couldn’t figure out why my card wasn’t being accepted so when it went through she asked if I could open up my bank app to see if ur went through. I left opened the bag up at home and saw how I felt robbed. $25 dollars for five baked goods. They are all at least nearly half the size of how they used to be. Now they are $4.95 for something that should be $3.00. The bars and muffins used to be double in height. I know there’s a lot of inflation going on, but I was just at Lazy Loaf and Kettle and they have kept their baked goods the same hearty size for 20 years without any drastic price increases. Friends used to be at the same caliber. The sandwiches have also been a disappointment. Much smaller and more expensive....

Third time here, busy place. Had soup and sandwich today. The young lafy taking our order was so confused with prices she charged and how to correct it and over charging with the correction, it just made you want to give up and leave. After getting the veggie sandwich with turkey added and the tomato Florentine soup, $16.90 I felt was a ridiculous price for soup and sandwich. I asked if the sandwich was big and full of the contents anf they assured me it was their largest sandwich. I'm not sure what their idea of large is, but it wasnt this sandwich. I dont think it was even an inch thick. Evelyn's in High River, you want a big thick sandwich, they know sandwiches.....not here. The soup was SUPER acidic! The tomato taste was to overpowering! I know its tomato soup but there are was to tame the acid from the tomatoes and it wasnt in this soup. After a few bites, I had to return it as my stomach just couldn't handle the acidic taste. Didn't both with a nice coffee drink as their prices are way to inflated, I'm not at Starbucks! There is no place to put ut empty food dishes and No one was coming arpund to take them off the tables, but yet it was still full and busy. Maybe I'm missing something still. Their treats look good but...
