I was visiting from Ontario. My daughter arranged dinner reservations to celebrate her husband's birthday. We were seated in the same area as the bar. The constant slamming of the fridge door at the bar, was very irritating. The waitress was very pleasant. I ordered Seafood Fettucine. As per the menu, it was to include prawns, shrimp and whitefish with the Fettucine, cheese on top and baked. When we received our order, the server, not our waitress, said, here is your mac&cheese. It clearly was Fettucine Alfredo, so I thought it was an honest mistake. My dish had no cheese on top, nor was it baked. As I began to eat it, it was clear there were no prawns, shrimp or whitefish in the dish. We notified the waitress. She apologized profusely and stated we would not be charged for this dish. She returned a few minutes later, and said the owner would bring over a new order. Well, the owner came to our table about 5 minutes later with a dish with 4 large shrimp and white fish and put it on the original Fettucine. He boasted that he was giving me an extra shrimp. I was upset that the shrimp and fish were placed on top of the cooling Fettucine. I was not impressed. However, I chose not to say anything as I did not want to dampen the birthday celebration. My daughter arranged for a dessert with a birthday candle for her husband. A young server presented the dessert minus the candle. She did add the candle, but it was another disappointment. But it got worse. When she received the bill, they had charged her for my meal. When she approached the staff, the owner told her that they would not have offered not to charge for this dish. She stated what the waitress had to hold her and conveniently she had left for the day. They did not charge her for the dessert. As we were leaving, the owner approached us and was very confrontational and rude. He stated it was a misunderstanding on our part. We told him, that all of us, heard the waitress, say we would not be charged for the meal. He persisted. We chose to just leave. As an owner of an establishment, he should take some customer service classes. Will NEVER frequent this...
Read moreThese are photos from 3 separate dining experiences. I do recommend a reservation. However, the wait isn't very long. Food and drink are excellent here. The seafood pasta is a bit bland, it needs more garlic and the sauce splits, I tried it twice, and unfortunately, it was lacking flavor. children under 19 are not allowed without adults at the table. An 18 year old at the time and his girlfriend were not allowed to dine at the table next to us. They had to be accompanied by an adult. The party of 10 had to split up and leave the booth so an adult was with them. The owner, Peter, got embarrassingly loud and argumentative with one of the guests when asked about the policy. The view is fantastic, ocean view & outside patio dining. It can be a bit loud, There is also a separate quiet dining room on the other side of the bar/ restaurant. There is no view in that dining room, but it has a more formal romantic dining experience. Hands down, best Pina colada I've had in Campbell River. On the second visit, I had a reservation for a booth, I was in crutches and explained on the phone I needed a booth to put my leg up. They said they would accommodate me. However, when I arrived, the reservation was confirmed, but I was seated at a table for 2 with my guest and nowhere to put my crutches. When I explained I reserved a booth, the waitress told me they were about to get busy, and turnover is better when more than 2 people are in a booth... I stood my ground and was eventually moved from the table for 2. 2 out of 3 dining experiences had awkward/ uncomfortable interactions with staff, and the 3rd time in the back dining room was extremely pleasant. I like to do reviews for local restaurants after 3 dining experiences because of the rotation of cooks and staff to see if the experience and food are positive or negative in consistency. The garlic shrimp and the shrimp cup( forgot the name) were my favorite. Overall, the appetizers and drinks are...
Read moreWe had dinner at fifty last night. My husband had just came off an 16hr shift and I told him to meet me at the restaurant, he got there around 5. I was running late with our young kids, we showed up around 530. My husband ordered our kids food in advance. Everything was going great, we had our appys and we’re just waiting for our mains. My husband took our one daughter to the bathroom and the owner came over and asked me to hurry up because we had been there now for an hour and the table was “reserved”, I explained that we had not yet gotten our main meal yet, and he say oh I did not realize and left. My husband came back and the owner came over and was very passive aggressive towards my husband saying “I’ll sleep good tonight you should too” we were very confused to why we were being rushed out when there was plenty of tables available. It made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome there. When I tried to ask our server what was going on, he came over and made more passive aggressive comments to us, in front of our young kid, by that time we had only been there for under two hours, he left with saying “we could stay out for a long time.”
This makes us very sad because we love the food and the staff is amazing. We just don’t understand why we needed to be rushed out and talked to in a very degrading way when we wanted to know why we were being rushed out. We unfortunately won’t be going back for a very long time. It was one of our favorite...
