Wong's Cafe — Restaurant in Canora

This has been my favorite small town restaurant since 2010 when I moved to this community. The original owners sold it to a new family, Betty and Alan. What has been happening there is incredibly sad. It seems the owners may have actually grown a personal issue with me. Perhaps it is because I did not want to wear a mask way back when that was happening. Perhaps it is because of Gossip in our community. I'm not sure.. several times now the owners have humiliated me loudly in front of other customers in the restaurant. My five-year-old boy wants noodles. It is normal for this restaurant to charge half for half orders for many other customers. I see it all the time. I simply want my 5-year-old to be allowed to just order some noodles and not pay the full $16 price for it. For the second or third time they made a big deal over me asking this. The owners have raised their prices on everything. They reduced the portion sizes. It's very sad. Regardless I was still happy to support them because it was still my favorite place to be in the community for fellowship and coffee etc. But after the incredible public display of disrespect that I was shown by Alan and Betty this past Saturday I will not be returning. I strongly do not recommend this restaurant. I hope the owners can turn it around so we can have our friendly small...

I usually call ahead to order takeout and have learned that during peak times the food often isn't ready so will add 10 minutes to the pick up time. If it's not during the dinner rush it's always ready at the time given.

During the supper rush there's often a line to pay as the person manning the register is also answering the phone taking orders. The debit machine is usually quite slow and since there is only one phone line transactions are interrupted if a call comes in while the machine is in use.

Regardless of minor inconveniences I still recommend this place as the food is always good - it's fresh, served hot and is fairly priced. The service and food was great when Chuck and Cora owned and ran it but now the service well lack of it says a lot and the food is not as good and the prices have gone up. Well it has been over a year since the new peple took over and the service us still bad and the food even worse. I had the smorgasbord tonight and the honey garlic ribs were so digesting as all the ribs had on them was fat, sinu, bones and lots of sauce. One needed a hack saw to cut through the sunu. The chicken wings were burnt to a crisp and the veggies were soggy enough for a person with no teeth. All in all the food was gross.
