Very disappointed with the service we received from a staff person dressed all in black (unfortunately did not catch her name in the exchange). Upon completion of our meal, my family and I were packing up getting ready to go. One child began to cry at leaving as we had a great time up to this point. We were then approached by a staff member asking if we needed any assistance and insisting we leave immediately as 'children become more upset' when we stay. If this staff member had paused for a moment to see what was happening she would have seen a packed table and our family exiting the building. I loved the drink menu and pastry case here -- not your average stuff and very affordable for a local coffee shop (coming from the US). I had the pumpkin pie latte (half sweet) and it showed off some quality espresso and decent flavor. It wasn't very sweet, but I'm usually a plain latte kind of guy, so I wanted to be safe. Most people could probably handle it full-sweet without being overwhelmed. I get the vibe that this place makes well-balanced drinks. The currant scone was a solid bite -- super thick yet moist, with good flavor, and a nice balance of subtle sweetness and butter. This is a pretty spacious place with great service. Love the coffee shop at Butchart Gardens. The staff are always amazing and welcoming. Very efficient with their service as well. They have a good variety of treats as well as sandwiches, soup, light bites, etc. The scones are really nice, especially heated with butter and jam. The coffee room is bright and airy in summer and cosy and warm in the winter. They have a lovely fireplace and lots of beautiful decor.
