I would just like to say that the employees of this store by all appearances have done a stellar job. During this Covid 19 pandemic, every single Tim Hortons in this small town was to remain closed except for this one as far as I know, and the others had posted directions for getting here. This location stands at a way station between two cities, and shares the lot with a hotel, a truck stop and a few gas stations, and one of only two on and off ramp for Hwy 1 where truckers can stop to check their load, rest for the night or get something to eat. Even under normal circumstances it's a busy location, open 24/7, but this time of course is no longer typical, and far from it.
Think about that for a second. They are serving an area of 101 square miles with a population of nearly 100,000 permanent residents most of whom would die without their morning coffee and would be willing to drive more than a country mile to get it. Add to that the highway traffic, and it's a perfect recipe for madness.
The line up was long, and it was unseasonably hot at 31 degrees, so I am sure some people were cranky waiting in a drive through lineup in a car without a/c, like me. It was recently announced that quarantine restrictions were relaxing a bit, and suddenly the traffic on the roads exploded.
Stuck inside an undoubtedly hot and stuffy restaurant.and wearing masks and gloves, goggles and the like, an army of employees seemlessly addressed the coffee and lunch needs for thousands of people, ensuring that in spite of their own suffering that other people could have some semblance of normalcy in this time of uncertainty. Highschool students, young adults, single mother's and landed immigrants, a veritable collage of backgrounds and origins, orientations and ethnicities, both religious and non, all working together as a remarkable team, for a wage barely above minimum in a province with the highest cost of living in Canada. It's a given that they need to do this for themselves and their families, but it's also hardly acknowledged that they are doing this for all of us too.
Try to remember that we are all in this together, and please let these front line workers know that they are appreciated and that they are valuable.
To the employees of the Tim's at Lickman Road may I say that you all deserve the greatest of things and I hope your life is remarkable and fulfilling. I hope you all continue to smile and know that there are many among us who greatly respect and admire you all and the hard work you do, and I am one of them.

Read moreThe people who work here are unable to follow simple requests such as "extra sauce". I have repeatedly ordered the same foods with and without extra sauce and the difference is minimal. Not only that, they almost always pile the sauce at the bottom of a wrap instead of distributing it throughout the wrap (let's be honest, it takes less than 2 seconds to fix this, I've worked in one of the busiest restaurants in Canada before and we had time to make these changes, so there's no excuse other than laziness and a lack of care for other people's food).
Or I have requested foods without one sauce and another sauce in its place. 60-80% of the time they will either fail to remove the other sauce and use both sauces or they will simply not add the sauce I've requested. These aren't exactly complex requests even when you're working in a busy restaurant during rush hour.
There is very little quality control at this restaurant.
That's not even to mention that the quality of Tim Horton's food has severely declined over the past several years.
I only eat at this Tim Horton's because they're the only restaurant on my way to work that's reasonably priced and fast to serve customers. If I have time I will go to McDonald's any day of the week over this Tim Horton's (or most Tim Horton's as they all seem to be run similarly [i.e. poorly]).
I'm not sure if the owners haven't received enough complaints or if they simply do not care about the quality of the food that they serve people (a lot of the issues at this restaurant could be fixed with proper training and additional quality control). Considering how often they seem to make small, but significant mistakes (let's be honest, using the wrong sauce on a sandwich or wrap can make or break it), I have to believe that they've received some direct complaints, but the owners/managers have failed to appropriately utilize these criticisms to improve their food quality.
If it were up to me, Tim Horton's would be failing as a business because their focus on quality across chains (in BC anyway) appears to be generally non-existent (even if many of these problems are the fault of individual owners/managers and not strictly corporate, a corporate mandate and program to facilitate quality control throughout their restaurants would go a long way) and they don't deserve to serve people food.
If you have the means, get your food and coffee somewhere else. Don't contribute to this failing business that doesn't care about what people actually want when they order...
