Awkward is the best way to describe our experience. 4 adults 2 children. Tables for 4 only. Do you order from the chalkboard or is there table service? Do you seat yourselves?Should we pull the tables together? Btw what's with the two girls sitting at different locations with a photographer standing on chairs taking pictures of them? Awkward! I personally would prefer to not sit on on a chair that has been stood on. I also found the chairs uncomfortable. We did get our menus from one of two servers after we sat down at 2 different locations. The server's knew very little about the menu. One server had her break and ate her food at a booth and then left her drinking glasses on the table. The other server was tied up with customers ordering from the chalk board. This left a couple that came in before them waiting for service at a table. They had to ask us if there was table service. They waited quite awhile before they received recognition that they were sitting waiting. Our food came out fairly quick but the couple that ordered from the chalkboard received their order before we received all of our order. It was nice seeing perch on the menu, however the amount of fish on the sandwich didn't come close to filling the bread. California BLT had an overpowering bbq flavor to it. Pulled pork was ok. What is mint coleslaw? Prairie beef sandwich ok. Quinoa salad was good but it was the most expensive item we ordered. There was a bistro option for the salad which seemed irrelevant. It came with mango and chipotle? The server said that the chipotle was not spicy. Note to server...chipotle is made.from jalapenos. If a little old gray haired lady asks you if it's spicy....There is only craft beer available which some people do not like. It's good to support local but probably more important to satisfy your customers. Our waitress couldn't tell us anything about the beer except for where it was brewed. Quote "beer is not really my thing". Location of breweries is clearly printed on the photocopied menus. I had at least 3 menus on my clipboard with some blank paper mixed in? I wish they offered me some crayons 😕 On top of it all they had no doughnuts!!!! Food could definitely have been better. A lot of it just didn't work. It was like they were trying too hard to be unique. The BLT is a good example. Mint coleslaw on the pulled pork sandwich is another example that comes to mind. How about a description of the dish on the photocopied menu? It can't be too much extra to print off a new version. Unnecessary. Keep it simple. Good concept. Poor execution! I may reluctantly give them another chance. Gotta try the doughnuts....

I didn't realize they have been open since November 2018. Even more...

All good things come to an end. Proverb It is inevitable that good experiences will eventually end. Tolllers Bistro my fiancé's favourite place to go to when we pass through Lacombe. We stopped for a quick bite, the time was 6:20 pm. Entering the Bistro we were greeted. My fiancé asked if it was too late to order in. In which the server replied "Only if you you know what you, and can be quick about it. We CLOSE soon" her facial expression and body language said it all. I would have left. Unfortunately at the time I was on a business call, and did not hear the servers comment. My fiancé informed me of the comment. As quickly as we were seated we had to order. Again still stuck on my business call, and wasn't completely itune with what was going on. My fiancé ordered, I finally ended my call and was briefed on the situation. I told her we should leave, I do not enjoy being rushed and the poor service was beginning to agitate me. I told her to cancel our orders and we should leave. My fiancé in turn said "I have ordered, I would hate to be rude" The server didn't offer any drinks, I saw her as she dropped our food off and that was it. 6:45 PM and take out boxes are being dropped off at our table?! Really. I guess we can take a hint. We went to the cashier, got dessert to go and paid our bill. Not a word more was said. Completely unacceptable service. The icing on the cake, the...

Been here a few times and the food has always and still is amazing. The service today was terrible. We both ordered a burger and fries and when arrived there was a plate of burger and fries and then two extra side orders of fries. When I expressed that this not what had been ordered was told that she could wrap it to go. No apology, or offer to make right. The worse part though is that we waited for at least 25 minutes for burgers to be made. Service has never been speedy here but this is a bit much. There was no one else waiting for food when we arrived, and people after us were served first. When I went to enquire after 20 minutes, no apology for delay was just told that it takes longer to cook hamburgers, and that she had just talked to the cooks and should come shortly. If they had spoken to cooks why not let us know? Prices here are slightly higher then you might expect at a regular coffee place. The great food and good service has made it worthwhile. Now I am...

Today I decided to try this new local bistro. I was not disappointed to say the least. The menu provides for a variety of palettes but for my stop today I settled on the Prairie beef sandwich and cream of mushroom soup. The sandwich was a pleasant combination of a generous helping of roast beef, pickled mushrooms, aioli sauce and finished with with a n onion ring. The soup was also a pleasant surprise with generous amounts of hearty mushrooms as opposed to the typical microscope worthy soups I have had at other establishments. The service was prompt even during the busy luch hour. The only suggestion I would have is either napkin dispensers at the tables or have some delivered by the wait staff when delivering the meal. I did have to look around a bit for one them. Over all a great dining experience.

Whenever I am in Lacombe, I make sure that I have several meals at this wonderful little place. The food is great, service is always super, love the ambience (best background music in town). There's nothing on the menu to be avoided - my favorite these days is the Burrito Bowl although the Tuna Poke bowl is also great. The liquor menu is good as well, with inexpensive wine and a good craft beer selection. This place also does a big business with donuts! Some very imaginative toppings (we had a Trail Mix). Small annoyance (since updated): it used to close too early, at 7 o'clock, but now some nights it's open until 8.

Just moved to Red Deer and this is my new fave food spot. Cute inside and would be a chill place for a first date or a place to come work on your laptop. We ordered the matcha latte, cappuccino, rosemary fries, chicken pesto sandwich and chicken mango tacos. Everything was tasty/fresh and we would re-order the same things again. Price point is decent and towards the end of the day they offered two for one donuts. A little disappointed that they were out of apple fritters but we’ll definitely be back and hope to try one then, as I’ve heard great things. Worth the drive.
