Bella's Casual Dining — Restaurant in Clarenville

After a long, wet day of traveling, we had booked a room at the Clarenville Quality Hotel along the TransCanada Highway. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a restaurant within the hotel, as we travelled all day with no restuarant stop, and didn't relish the idea of hunting for a restaurant. Bella's was perfect! Great atmosphere, warm and welcoming. Definitely not your usual hotel restaurant!. Efficient and very friendly service. And the food was fabulous! Pan fried cod with scrunchions! Never had scrunchions before. The carrots and broccoli were cooked to perfect el'dente stage. The cod was great! The garden salad was perfect, not soggy. The spiced rum and Coke drinks we had (4) added up, were a bit pricey, but hey ... we were thirsty as well as hungry. But we also topped the meal off with dessert...delicious apple blossom & ice cream, and chocolate almond torte. Loved this place ! Don't be fooled by their small menu. Each of the item on the menu is delicious. They take requests if you want your food cooked in a certain way. The seafood linguine and Ciabatta clubhouse sandwich are must try. They provide a fixed complimentary breakfast for the hotel customers which includes either tea/coffee/juice with 2 eggs, bacon/sausage, bread toast and hash browns. Not my best option, but really limited in options in this area. Our pre ordered group dining meal for 24 members was handled well and in a timely manner. Salmon dinner included roast potatoes and root vegetables. Unfortunatrly salmon was over done and served luke warm. I recognize that group service can be a challenge, but don't understand why potatoes and vegetables were hot, but main salmon was so disappointing... would not...
